It's what they do.

No one mentioned anything about health, so I really don't see how that's related to this article in any way. You and I have absolutely no way of knowing the status of this person's health, but for argument's sake, are you saying photographs of anyone who's unhealthy (chronic disease, etc) should be posted only with a

My older cat knew I was pregnant before I did! I imagine the smells are very strong to an animal.

Being a mother, when it's something that you want and are relatively prepared for, is fucking AWESOME. Maybe it's just me, but I find taking care of a baby much easier than working full time and going to school full time, which is what I did for much of my pre-kid adult life.

Truly, the pendulum has swung way too far in the other direction. Everything is omg having a baby is the most awfulest thing ever and YOU WILL SMELL LIKE POOP AND PUKE ALL DAY LONG AND LOOK HORRIBLE AND FAT!!!! AND HAVE NO IDENTITY OR SLEEP EVER AGAIN! Extremes either way are kind of dumb, but as a new mom I find this

Congratulations! Wedding anniversaries totally excuse any sappiness, in my book. It's wonderful to grow together with someone, isn't it?

He sort of looks like he's searching for human flesh to devour. So intense!

YES. TJ's is amazing for flowers! They have a great variety (not the same old tired grocery store crap flowers, but the kind of stuff florists carry) and the price can't be beat.

There's nothing that makes me feel better for the cost of $6 or so than flowers. They are such a wonderful mood-lifter, and make me feel like my living space is prettier. Trader Joe's sells insanely nice bouquets for really reasonable prices. I think they usually have $4, $6, and $10 bouquets, all of which are lovely.

Yes, but...the problem is that it seems like 90% of wedding dresses are strapless. This article would be the same if all dresses were halter tops.

That's a really good point. Although maybe I'm weird, but my little guy is three months old and I'm loving every second of it. I also have the incredible privilege of being a stay at home mom so I realize that I might have it easier? Maybe? I don't know.

Yeah, I have no problem with the less positive articles if they were evened out with some positive ones, but positive stories about motherhood on here seem few and far between.

IIRC, nearly everyone gets a year of paid maternity leave so long as they meet certain eligibility requirements (which as far as I know are pretty broad, because all the Canadians I know who've had babies got that full paid year). I think it's paid at like 60%, but that's a helluva lot better than 0%. Hopefully

I agree wholeheartedly. I don't feel like there are enough resources on feminist mothering and Jezebel has such a wide audience. Instead, though, we get another Tracey Moore article about how she's stretch-marked and miserable in various ways now and haha everything about parenthood sucks!

Same thing here. Natural medium-dark brunette who's been going grey since she was in 8th grade. : / I think all grey would look awesome (and I'd say I'm about 75% there from what I see when my roots grow out), but in the meantime, the mostly-grey ends up looking incredibly blah and washes me out something fierce.

Yes, from all the comments she strikes me as a feminist very much in the vein of Andrea Dworkin, which I hope to gods most of feminist has grown up from by now. Sigh.

I just started reading and I didn't know whether to cackle or just sit in stunned, horrified silence. I think there are some very fair reasons to critique some of Joss Whedon's work (though admittedly I am a fan), but those aren't it.

Whoa wait. I'm going to have to find this because how the hell does one get that from Firefly?

Especially ones with the GIANT FLOWER. It screams, "MY BABY HAS A VAGINA!!!!!!! SHE'S A GIRL! JUST SO YOU KNOW, IT'S NOT A BOY BABY!"

Your story is very reminiscent of this:
