My favorite thing about Scream is that they (almost) never do. That opening sequence as Drew is running away, you keep thinking, "Scream! Scream!" and she doesn't. Every other time the killer confronts someone, it's the same thing.

I had my TV on in the background one night when the first FD came on, and kind of glanced up as it started—I really didn't know anything about the movie/series—and became totally transfixed. The actual crash, the way it was filmed, blew me away (no pun intended).

Right? All you ever see is that stupid remake (I refuse to watch it). The Stepfather is the movie that convinced Child Me to cross "real-estate agent" off my list of potential careers, and Terry O'Quinn is fantastic in it.

I remember that article! I will never forget the line, "Even Steven Spielberg wasn't able to solve the dispute." Like, man, when Spielberg can't get someone to be civil and budge, you know there's an issue.

Myers is pretty famous for being very difficult, though. Hers is far from the only story about it.

1. You probably needed that sleep. Sleep is when your brain recharges itself, and it sounds like your brain is working double overtime these days. So let it have that break. It is NOT going to cripple you.

Okay, I really hate to jump on the "criticize the review" bandwagon, I honestly do. I don't agree with Sava's take on this show/this season, but I appreciate that it's his take and at least often provides some interesting discussion.

Nope. I wondered it, too.

This is a damn fine post, sir. Damn fine.

Mystery Incorporated was/is tons of fun. My youngest has been really into Scooby-Doo since she was very small, so I've seen pretty much all iterations (including the originals from when I was a kid). MI beats them all hands-down.

Ours loved Young Frankenstein, too.

My girls were semi-meh on Alien, but they loved Aliens, which is admittedly more accessible for kids that age (ours are 15 and 11, and we too just watched Alien/s a few months ago). They also loved Terminator & T2 (and, surprisingly, Road to Perdition). They liked Sean of the Dead, loved Sixth Sense (and Unbreakable)…

At least Elmo's better than Caillou. Fuck that kid.

Agreed. My girls have learned a lot about the original monsters & stories from those, and the names can be really amusing.

"Barbara Michaels is a wonderful writer, even when she calls herself Elizabeth Peters."

I was coming here specifically to mention her, and that book. Fucking amazing.

Yeah, I generally hate the "Let's see you write a book/show/movie," line of argument, and I'm a professional novelist. But I did find myself thinking it while reading this review; dude, sometimes you have to break a few eggs to make a good omelette, and if the reviewer is upset that "the script" makes Elektra say

Congrats/best wishes!

I saw Nichelle at LAX a few years ago. I was walking and I hear that voice and thought, I know who that is. Sure enough, I turned around and there she was. I said, "Hello, Ms. Nichols!" and she smiled and said, "Hello, dear!"

Inside Out made me cry like a baby—I think because I'm a mom. Maybe if you don't have kids it's not so rough, but geez, I'm tearing up again just thinking of it.
