I find many parts of your statement to be presumptuous and entitled.

I feel like this argument is a deflection. Everything in it is correct- however, Viacom didn’t (or at lease didn’t say) they fired him because of the anti-white shit. It was because of the antisemitism. And that isn’t just words, that’s stuff that actively hurts and provokes violence against Jewish people.
Thanks for not making this a slideshow.
I was with you until the whole her husband is a dork, it’s not about race or sex shit. Why do white people always want to tell you it is not about race without checking their internalized racism? I was not born in this country and yet I am always checking how casually racism is imbued into every part of our lives.…
I fucking LOVE my giant cast iron I got from Cravings at Target. Seriously, I use that damned thing every day and I got it on some wild sale (so, under $20!). I’ve had it for months and months and it is still chugging along great, despite me not properly taking care of any cast iron thing any time. It tolerates my…
Charlotte sent him there *in order to find out where "there" was*.
It was just a terrible way to end the arc of someone profoundly suicidal and depressed. Even if they assured us it was a heroic sacrifice- (1) his arc was he wanted to be *happy* not a hero, he thought being a a hero in a story might make him happy but he found out stories were more complicated than that and (2)…
which plays less prominently in the book because there, Mia is white.
If you get invited to a huge Hollywood party, you’ve gotta check it out at least once.
A genuine plea: can we put Joan on the serious-topics beat (her piece on the California fires was moving and beautiful) and take her off the pop-culture-snark? Because it’s not where her talents lie. Half her snark is incomprehensible, and the other half is just wrong.
he’s a transphobic asshole.
So let me see if I understand what’s going on here. One of the biggest writing organisations in the world, in one of the most prolific and successful genres in publishing, is dealing with a microcosm case of the same industry-wide issue with white supremacy that has kept authors of colour fighting for years for…
So. While reporting on a serious debate about racism & discrimination within the largest writer’s organization in the US - one with a majority female membership - where there’s about $3 mil on the line plus 40 years worth of industry connections & infrastructure, you decided to go flippant & condescending.…
Did she “look”? I heard “But you’re nothing like him.” Either way, though it’s possible the real Elliot’s face doesn’t look like the Mastermind’s, that would contradict last week, where we view things from real Elliot’s time-loop perspective and he was still played by Rami Malek.
We are also talking about trans identities, medicine, and science, which are my things. And I will point out here, again: The way you are defining sex is not congruent with how professionals define it, and the distinction is only important in that it helps people delegitimize trans folks.
Here’s the thing, though:
This is inaccurate, though. Sex is not based solely on genetics, and people who believe you cannot change your sex are not “scientifically accurate”.
I don’t have anything made with leather or canvas. I have a degree in art history, an eye for design and I’ve been collecting 50ies pieces for years. I know what I’m doing, but thank you for mansplaining something I’m an expert at
The headline is very misleading - “a Man and a Racist” and then just a photo of Farrow. While not as direct as “a Racist Man,” it can easily be misinterpreted. (See “a gentlemen and a scholar” etc.) Next time, might be worth posting a split image to show Gretchen Carlson, too?
