Great Avatar article Kurt! From my screenname you can tell I like anime, and Avatar TLA compares favorably with some of the best anime which is some of the best praise I can think to give it. I have only watched it through twice but this article makes me want to watch it again. 

I love anime and have seen hundreds of shows.. I loved fooly cooly but watched 1 episode of this and the reigen character turned me off so much I couldnt watch any more than that. I usually give a show more time than that, but... I just couldnt take him.

This depends on if you want to see them in the order they were released (at least in the US, where I am), or the story order. Personally, I tend to like seeing things in the order released, even when there are prequels etc. In that case for the anime its:
