Thank you! I was wondering if someone would mention them, because they are definitely my favorite YA novels. "Tombs of Atuan" is my favorite of the series, possibly because of the young girl protagonist, since I first read them as a young girl. I've read them so many times since then, however, and it's still my

Ohmygod, finally someone on AV Club mentioned Bujold, whose novels I have read more times than I can count. Now I need to look up this Georgette Heyer, because we obviously have something in common.

I'm a mom, and I hate this fucking show.

yeah, my roommate in college and I used to listen to the gin blossoms all the time, and she said, "You know, all their songs sound the same, but at least it's a good song."

This is the powerful pulsing of love in the vein.

We used to stomp on them and then scrape our shoes across the sidewalk to leave a long glowing stripe. And I do feel bad about that. But not as bad as when I put salt on a slug once. I swear to this day I could hear its tiny little death screams.

You know, I was going to argue with you blindly, based on nothing but knee-jerk Whedon defense syndrome, but I remembered that I hated that battle scene the very first time I watched the pilot. I actually turned to my husband and said something like "What is this, and why would I like it??"

I had no idea there was so much hate for the theme song. I love it, too. Enterprise's, though, is really terrible.

Exactly what I thought.

See, I think they should do something completely different with Penny. I think she should go back to school to learn something science-y. That would be an interesting way to get her into the same realm as the others, and change the dynamic of their entire relationship. Just having her as the "dumb", unsuccessful one

Jesus, Earthsea, what a travesty. I freaking love those books more than anything, and the fact that they got a shitty Syfy treatment instead of actual movie love, or even a miniseries on any other channel, still makes me sad.

I dunno, your age changes every year, but the street you grew up on doesn't.

Really fantastic episode. I actually really enjoyed the reveal of Dr. Lee as a hallucination. It added to the poignancy of his choice to lie to Gabriel.

I love "Uncle Tungsten", one of my favorites. This show is, well, not that good, but interesting enough. As mentioned above, the comedy bits strain patience, but the applications are good. The shark repellant bit is fascinating.
