"...teams realized they could get additional benefit..." The idea that they thought of the diffuser benefit *after* they'd designed is ridonkulous. In F1 it's not enough to be smart, you've got to be damn clever too! Actually I wouldn't doubt if it were the other way around:

Yeah, we covered this in another thread...I still want to see the numbers. I like the numbers. :)

That's a problem. If your speed is too great you'll overcome the ability of the opposing cones to find the "sweet spot." I'm sure in some dusty engineering manual somewhere there is a simple *cough* formula taking into account max. load, current radius, and potential wear of track and wheel elements that will spit

OK...duh...the "effective toe-in" of the opposing cones regulate the amount of side-to-side movement in relation to the track. I guess as long as the centrifugal force is not high enough to drive the wheels all the way out to their flanges the built-in centering tendancy will compensate for the differing turn radii.

Yes, and I enjoy playing both sides of the confusion.

That little pull-up at the end was the reprensentation of the pilot's erection after such an awesome demonstration.

What if you have different radii? Would you need different wheels?

It's amazing how something so apparently simple could be just *that* much more complex. I've always known that train wheels are coned and thought that the only purpose was to cut down of contact patch with the rail...you see, a train's wheels are supposed to only contact the rails on the very inner edges of the rails

I think he meant that centripetal force made the wheels want to go straight and therefore meant they would appear (to the track) to be sliding towards the outside.

It was in the post-qual interview with the top 3 qualifiers (in the room behind the podium.) SPEED had it on their show, but I don't know where you'd find that to watch...maybe a torrent somewhere. At least in the interview you linked to he gave us yokels a little more credit..."90% of the fans only understand 5%".

No, he was talking about all the technical aspects of F1. It sounded like he thinks that the media shouldn't bother dwelling on all the various rules arguments because the fans are only here to watch a good race. Most of them, yes. But quite a few (like me) are into F1 because they are cutting edge technological

Applying Charles Lindbergh's theory on multi-engined aircraft, you're now 50% more likely to break down due to a flat tire.

@Kangaru: I didn't say they were good selling points :P

What could keep Lincoln alive?

@POLAЯ: "It's time to go dig up Dom."

@invincibledelta88: Quite on the contrary. If I were to see that on Jackass or if the Dudesons did it, knowing their previous body of creative distraction, I would've easily believed it to be real. Now, no. Now that they're not afraid to lie their credibility goes right out the window. It'll be like watching

At least when they were shoving stuff up their asses and smacking themselves in the balls they were *honest* about it. This is just plain lying.

@Crossdrilled: Loeb's not really a "came out of nowhere" driver. He already had a history in WRC. Sort of like Webber in F1. RB just never found their NASCAR wunderkind.
