@Bluecold: So, when the engines first light and the shuttle is standing still (zero velocity), the engines have zero power?

@JalopJeff: I like when they continue the video as the SRBs tumble away and as they come around you see the Shuttle receding in the distance. It sends an image of complete desolation...like a solo sailer falling off his yacht and watching it sail away on autopilot.

@Bluecold: You are slightly mistaken. The velocity of the rocket itself is not the number you're loking for. You want the velocity of the gasses and particulate in the exhaust plume in relation to the rocket.

@Slave2anMG: 8 wks in OK=paradise. Tittie bars and taco trucks! We're getting new equipment at work and it's off-to-school time. I've been here 20 yrs and about 1 1/2 yrs has been in OK. Nice place once you get used to it....everybody trying to be in less of a hurry than the next guy...

We had a few wrecks on the interstate yesterday and cars were stuck in the cold and snow. Except for the few that the sense to use the u-turns and go back and take the secondary roads. The state police gave them all $150 tickets for illegal u-turns.

I loved the sound those Mazdas made on the in-car shots. They sounded like they had duck calls stuck up their pipes.

@mazahh: I was going to nominate the Hägglunds Bv206 until I saw this. *google-google* The Sisu is the modernized upgrade to the Bv206. Kick ass machines and not just on snow...they be amphibious!! They use the Bv206's around here for the US Army Mountain school. Do want!

I've always thought it'd be cool to have an old loco piston for a shop stool.
