My partner and I moved from Seattle to Medellín, Colombia in September of 2016. We voted early, because Washington has early voting that’s entirely mail-in. The last time we were in the United States, things looked hopeful and full of exciting progress. We really thought we’d see the first female President of the US. I

She does and she doesn’t. Your points determine your ranking, which determines your seed (who you play—high-ranked players play low-ranked players in early rounds) and the cut-off for entry into tournaments without having to play qualifiers (sort of a pre-tournament, where the winners can then play in the tournament

No, I'm in Colombia. We have most of the digital services, though. I'll keep my fingers crossed!

That's fantastic, thanks!

Sadly, I live outside the US and Hulu properties rarely make it across the border, let alone overseas. Nothing’s been said about international availability that I could find, but I’d much rather buy it than torrent it. This is the first Christmas movie with a queer cast, queer writers, and a story based on the real

Dead to Me is so good that I’m pretty sure you’ve watched it. In fact, the show is so well-written, with such layered female characters and a wonderfully dark sense of humor, that I constantly found myself existing in a state of disbelief because shows like this just don’t get made. Except this one did, and it has two

An important correction. Thanks!

I’d be really surprised if the Biden campaign named their VP pick before or after August. August 18th is the 100 year anniversary of the ratification of the 19th ammendment, which gave women the right to vote. I'm sure his campaign is aware of that. Connecting the VP pick with said anniversary feels like a certainty

Oh, holy hell! I had no idea!

Yep, watched it! Saving Face, Alice Wu's first film, is one of my very favorite films. I appreciate the rec, though!

Between this, She-Ra, Kipo and Twelve Forever, it feels to me that Netflix is doing a better job with children’s programming than Disney. Netflix just isn’t afraid to offer more than lip service to feminism and queer positivity. It’s really heartening to see; watching these shows has been a balm even at my age.

Now playing

I’ve been watching old Rage Against the Machine concert footage lately. It feels more relevant than ever, and the energy gives me a healthy way to channel anxiety.

My partner and I (US citizens) have been living in Medellín, Colombia since early 2016. The response here gas been iffy. The local authorities—governors and mayors—have been fairly quick to react, but the President dragged his feet so long that said local authorities just ignored the federal government and started

Yikes, but I typoed Linney! Edit time limits are the bane of my existence.

Note: I also feel Diane!-adjacent when seeing Laura Kinney. Tales of the City lives in my brain.

I’ll agree to disagree? I mean, the average Hallmark Christmas movie doesn’t have much in the way of problems, either.

Two not straight people fall in love at Christmas and everything is fine. Starring any queer people.

The Blu-ray for Crazy Rich Asians was horrible for this. When my partner and I watched it, we had to keep the remote inhand for quick volume changes whenever music played. It was really annoying.

Maybe, but...

It became federal law in 2015, but it was legal in some states as early as 2004.
