And, to be clear, Trump’s tweet implied the gutting should occur, but just shouldn’t be prioritized over other actions. But I’m betting he’ll take credit for it soon enough.
It is true that she took him on and I have a (grudging**) respect for her for that. However, her one-on-one interview with him after the primary was so sacharine and “warm” it made me want to stab myself in the eye with a fork.
That’s awesome that you called! And this is EXACTLY what we need to keep doing. Keeping a record of everything and calling (not just emailing) our senators and representatives.
Thank you for clarifying!
It does appear that this has nothing to do with Trump. . . .but I have some (completely unsubstantiated) suspicions that he (or his team) had some influence here.
We can attempt to compile a record. People need to call their GOP reps and ask their offices how they voted. Then report back to journalists who are trying to keep a tally, such as Josh Marshall at Talking Points Memo.
Folks: this was a secret vote—but we can still find out who voted yay or nay.
Word on the street in my state is that our GOP senator thinks he’s got serious mental illness and also exhibits extraordinary narcism in personal conversations (shocking). When asked “How bad” the Trump situation was, our senator reportedly said something along the lines of, “It’s worse than you could ever imagine.”
He also (arguably) shows some signs of mania. . . . .Excessive, irresponsible spending, little need for sleep, disoriented thoughts. . . .
And now Duca is getting rape threats. Because of course they have to threaten to rape her because she forcefully expressed her opinion.
I liked both your points. Generally, I endorse just staying away from commenting on women’s appearances. But, given that the beauty of black women is so often ignored—or even derided—I think celebrating the beauty of Michelle Obama is merited and important.
Thank you. Also, the last thing I want is Trump as President. But, unless there is hard evidence that he committed treason or some other disqualifying crime, it would be incredibly dangerous for the Electoral college to oppose him.
Read all your comments and just wanted to say I am in awe. You seem super strong. (<—All this sounds weird & cheesy but I mean it sincerely). I’m so happy you are in a better place and, again, I’m in awe of what it must have taken to get to that better place.
I think they will feel just fine. They were operating on the information they had at the time and simultaneously standing up for diversity.
There should be a website for this. . . . .I’m serious, like a reproductive freedom airbnb.
This is mentioned in the article-but I want to harp on it a bit more.
The fact that he is staffing his cabinet with these complete far, far, far, right wing nutcases, one worse than the next, tells me there has to be outside influences going on.
Yes. They do. And, I won’t say, “don’t do one,” but it’s a horrible experience—particularly if you go to death row. And I am not sure it does the prisoners any good (which is part of what made it a horrible experience).
Don’t get me wrong, I do think her campaign made mistakes. And I don’t like reducing any outcome to a singular factor. But you have a point—she was polling at +8-10 in WI, +7-8 in PA, and the same in MI.
