You should read the actual monograph that you keep posting.

I had literally no idea that it was non-consensual. . . . .I’m horrified that the media did not do a better job at reminding people of this aspect of the scandal (given it’s the MOST IMPORTANT ASPECT).

Wait, I am super confused. You are against interventionist wars while simultaneously blaming Hillary Clinton for the bombing of Aleppo that was carried out by either Russia or Assad?

WHO has recommended limiting exposure around areas with young children — like daycare.

I’m really not trying to pile on here (just reading through all of the comments now). I hope that I do not come off as aggressive—because I am not intending to! But, I’m going to try to pose a response to this question:

I haven’t read this whole thread. . . .and I’m pretty sure I disagree with you on several points (the ones you have argued might be somewhat intangible)

I would like you to go do some reading and some thinking. Start abstractly. Look up “humanitarian intervention” and “just war.” Then apply the various arguments you’ve considered to U.S. intervention in the Middle East. Please consider the following framework when you think about the cost/benefit of intervention:

She reminds me of being in high school. And I’m 100% serious b/c I worked for the Ralph Nader campaign in high school and Jill Stein, unlike Ralph Nader****, is like an actual fucking high schooler. The shit that she says is almost word-for-word like the shit that we Naderites said to each other about why we liked

I’m resisting playing “the scientist” card with all my willpower, but Jill Stein makes it very fucking hard.

Ok. . . . .as a brain-researcher, I gotta step in here. . . . We know a fuckton about the human brain. We do not know everything—for sure—(every piece of research that emerges about the brain should be seen as just a teensy tiny error ridden fallible piece of a larger puzzle).

I do think skepticism is good. I do not, however, think that Jill Stein disseminates helpful skeptical assessments—I do think she panders to fringe fears. But, I don’t think I could prove this—and I’m not really going to try to—but so much of what she has said really seems like superficial rhetoric to me, fraught w/

Is that really the whole joke?

I don’t like that we pigeon hole people women based on what we think their secret motives are. In this case, I do think it’s sexist, b/c it’s basically like Taylor Swift does something nice, and BURN HER SHE IS SO VAIN AND JUST WUVS ATTENTION.

It’s funny cause the OP said:

Yeah, I think we’ll have to agree to disagree on this one . . . .and I mean that really respectfully. I do think you’ve laid out a compelling case. But, for me, it’s not enough. Maybe if I knew more about the possible legal ramifications, I would be more understanding. . . . . But, for me, it would be so meaningful if

but lets take the perp’s perspective only as a measure of intent — a mitigating circumstance.

I completely agree w/ principles of restorative justice. And I do not believe criminals should be sent away for life. And I do believe criminal justice should be rehabilitative—not punitive. And I do believe that our punitive system w/ long sentences (applied disproportionately to black men) can negatively effect gener

I can’t BELIEVE I am about to engage in this ( :) ) but I’m procrastinating and I can’t help myself.. . . Here goes:

Agreed—and yelling is deserved. I think that some young people ARE taught about boundaries, etc—but many, too many, are not.

Basically all of this happened to me—w/ the exception of heavy bleeding afterwards. I did have bruises though (not that these “visible” physical injuries make anything more/less of a rape)—and, when I did wake up at various points during the encounter, I sobbed and begged them to use condoms.
