Oh, and to continue the rant. . . .The current Gawker piece also misrepresents him:

This headline should be changed.

It kind of is when the issue is the sexual assault of children.

You are 100% correct. And those who are saying that he “walked back his statements” are 100% incorrect. We actually don’t know what his statements were.

Don’t worry! The polls are very volatile—as others have pointed out. . . . .

Have you read the book? Has anyone? I’ll definitely read it. . . but trying to decide if I should shell out the money to read it in hardback.

Agreed. The primary system is deeply flawed, and, in its conception, was created to keep certain fringe candidates from gaining traction. There are many things that Debbie Wasserman Schultz has done that I do disagree with. There are many things that the Hillary Clinton + her campaign have done that I disagree with

I’m going to respond as someone who is a Bernie supporter—but first and foremost a democrat. I’ve had a lot of conflicting thoughts about this—most of which are strategic at this point (b/c I’m a democrat first):

I appreciated these two articles as well. . . .

As a Bernie supporter, one thing that has disturbed me this cycle is how easy it has been for the media to paint a narrative in which all POC support Hillary in some hive-minded fashion. It’s not that I need/want groups of people to support Bernie. It’s just that some of the most thoughtful supporters of Bernie that I

I never cease to be astounded by what a bunch of intellectual failures we all are. It should be possible to mount serious moral criticisms to a variety of proposals without comparing them to the Holocaust. Holocaust analogies rarely work, particularly w/ regards to American society. And poor historical analogies only

Fart and Smunny: Bless you for posting this.

Yep. I don’t get why we can’t say rape can be about both. And, I fear, that when we try so hard to define an action as stemming from a single motivation, assholes have more ground to baselessly discredit the argument that rape IS, in fact, often about power. For example:

Yeah. . . or long entrenched ideas about women, sex, and sexual assaults. . . have then made their way into films, tv, etc. People definitely have ideas about what rape is, who rapers are, and what rape victims should be like. And we don’t do enough to teach young girls and men about how disconnected these stereotypes

‘If men can’t help but be visual creatures, I need to oblige. And while I’m not sure if his friends are jealous so to say, they do acknowledge he has a hot wife.’

Yep. I was gang-raped when I was 19 and just walked around like a zombie the next day. And I am actually not a stoic person at all. Actually, part of this whole “victims MUST be hysterical” narrative is part of what prevents fast reporting of sex crimes. We all have the trope in our heads, “If you were victimized,

I dunno. This does seem like something some white people might do. I don’t say this because I have some strong desire to defend Larry David or anything. But I don’t think pretending to like something in order to be cool is outside the realm of white people behavior. Exhibit A:

Yep. Bill as done nothing but drag Hillary down for the past 16 years—particularly in 2008. The Clintons don’t seem to realize that Bill was a powerful surrogate when he was campaigning for Obama—b/c he appealed to different democrats than Obama, was not MARRIED TO OBAMA, and could help promote party unity after

You are absolutely right for calling me out about this. I was unaware of this instance: and, you’re right—she doesn’t deserve any respect after saying this. I typically try to not live in a white-feminist-bubble, but I feel like I did in this case. Thank you so much for calling me out. I would say, “OMG, I didn’t know

I don’t really want to admit this, but I was one of the “Oh god. . . .do I kind of respect Megyn Kelly?” people
