Same — Ryder is a better actor, but Hawke is the best portrayal of the coltish, awkward, tomboy, lesbian Jo ever. Mini Uma even has a nice butch edge to her portrayal. It made me very happy, and was a nice (probably unintended) homage to Alcott.

I want to say that Uma and Ethan’s kid is by far the BEST portrayal of Jo March (my first lit crush) ever. Winona Ryder was a by far better actor, but Maya Hawke is awkward, not conventionally pretty (like her mother), and kinda butch. I am not being snarky — props to her.
