I dislike Trump as much as anyone, but to be fair, this was a very dated question. The nuclear triad was developed in response to the threat of total nuclear war, and was meant to ensure that we could still deliver total destruction on the Soviet Union even if they launched an all-out surprise first strike on us.…

It seemed clear, to me, that Rubio was taking an accurate dig at Trump by starting his answer with the suggestion that some people don’t know what the triad is. Trump has whiffed on a lot of questions, and I’m glad other candidates are calling it out.
