I think that the idea of a white child cared for and raised by a black woman who is either unpaid or poorly paid is a recent enough memory that any faceless, narrativeless photo like this would have me think of it as such. A black woman being used for her body is what comes to mind here.

Please explain. I don’t think that reaction is beyond the pale snowflakey. Maybe the visceral reaction was because I’m southern.
