Things have the K because of KDE (just like things have a G because of GNOME).

It would probably be easier to just remap.
If chrome had pentadactyl, I'd switch over completely in an instant. It's a shame really.
Thunderbird and Mutt > Outlook too. And I definitely agree about LaTeX. That and there's always libre office.
What exactly can't you do on windows besides game? And if you're talking about WINE, I'd point out that Wine Is Not an Emulator.
I'm confused. Are you saying that these programs don't exist on linux? I'm using spotify right now. I heard evernote sucks under wine, but I don't like evernote anyway. I don't like wunderlist either, but that's just me.
Have you tried running photoshop on linux?
As an arch user (I switched very recently), I'd have to say that the learning curve is very much over-exaggerated. I don't think I'll ever go back to a different distro.
Customization is the biggest plus for me. I'm an arch user and get to pick my window manager, desktop environment, display manager, compisite manager, window decorator, terminal, file manager, etc. etc. You can't really do this on any other OS.
OSX seems like a huge step backwards to me. I've had no problem running photoshop on linux. I have to wonder what other apps caused you to switch, because I use a lot of different applications and have never had a problem (except with things like gaming, which isn't going to be much better on OSX).
Why would I have to copy text files to a flash drive and back? I don't see why you wouldn't just take the minuscule amount of time it takes to download a text editor that is better. You only have to do it once. I'm open to the merits of a browser based editor, but I don't exactly understand what you mean.
Yeah, if you want an extension like that, you have to install it manually :/
The extension issue is still very much a problem. Just ask any pentadactyl/vimperator user who has tried using vimium or any of the other similar plugins. Chrome extensions have a lot of limits.
For me, the fact that chrome doesn't even allow for the possibility of having an extension like pentadactyl makes it hard to work with it. That's pretty much the only reason I would use ff (and for addons like downthemall).
What the heck would you need to synchronize that would make a browser editor preferable? I don't buy it for a second. I have to seriously doubt that this editor is on par with an actual desktop editor.
Browser text editors now? Just seems like a waste of effort to me.
I'd like to agree with this. The hard drive on my family's imac failed (this was a known issue with the model). Apple gave them another one with the same issue. The hard drive failed, and they lost all their stuff again. That and OS X makes me want to tear out my hair.
I hate the key personally, but you could always just remap if your keyboard didn't have it.
Maybe try vimium if you're on chrome. Shift j and k is a lot easier imo.
Better still is to use ahk to remap control shift and arrow keys to the home row for use with capslock.
