Now I’m curious - care to give a hint about your town? I am in Kane, live in the town that has the huge summer Swedish Days festival.

I do have one good Naperville story to share. Every year my friends and I go to Naperville Wine Fest on the grounds of Hotel Arista because we get free tix from work. Two years ago it rained and the grounds were a mucky mess but they held the fest anyway.
Never been. Should I venture there to try it out?
Word. I love Anderson Books (one of the few indy book stores left in ther burbs) and there is an Apple Store downtown so I have to venture there occasionally but it is totally snob city. Definitely a haven for the status-obsessed new rich. BTW I grew up in River Forest surrounded by rich kids (old money) and their…
I know, I just needed something to complain about yesterday.
I listened to WGN morning shows growing up (against my will because my Dad REFUSED to listen to anything but AM). Now, at work, I still occasionally listen to it on the internet because it’s extremely soothing and much better in comparison to pretty much anything on FM. I live in MO now but WGN = childhood nostalgia.
to be fair, I spent the entire time near 130th and Torrence. looks like it’s kind of the armpit of Chicago.
Anyone else here listen to Elliot in the Morning (DC101)? Notice how often they just discuss Gawker/Jezebel posts? Not a criticism, just an observation.
I am surprised Mancow wasn’t on this list, considering he’s the worst human on or off radio (and why is he still a thing, 97.9FM????)
During one of her standout performances of the week, Carmen calls a place of business
Does anyone really like these shows? If they do, they are wrong and should feel bad.
Talk radio’s one of those things where the more you think about it, the more you realize that not only can you not figure out why it’s still around, you can’t figure out how it ever started.
Reminds me of the Family Guy episode where Weenie and the Butt were replaced by Dingo and the Baby.
I hate pranks in general, but prank phone calls fill me with an irrational knee-jerk hatred. No wonder it would be a staple of a Morning Zoo-type show. Mean spirited, stupid, just the lowest common denominator stuff. They’re actively making people dumber. Thank god we live in an age where you can personally curate…
I got into a twitter fight with a local morning radio producer (not in Chicago) when I tweeted about how the morning show was using a common meme as part of a segment on “bad tindr conversations” and trying to pass it off as something a listener had sent in (it was the stupid “how tall are you?” “How heavy are you?”…
Hit the nail on the head there. Just this morning my coworker and I were laughing at a couple of classic rock shock jocks who were talking about how difficult it is to pirate music: “you have to know EXACTLY where to look!” “you don’t even know WHAT you’ll end up with!”
Virtually every FM station in the United States has some form of this crap. It’s basically one or two main hosts, usually frat bros and/or “cool chicks” (i.e. women who laugh along with sexist jokes and talk about all the sexy sex they have), with a bunch of producers who either are the target of the hosts’ jokes or…
Yeah. If/when I tune into a radio station at all(the only reason would be, if I’m driving), I tune into a station which plays just straight music and has no DJ or people talking.
Years ago when I was slaving away in a corporate office, I did 2 things to try and fit in with my “desk grouping” of people. One was watch the bachelor for a few episodes, and the other was listen to a certain morning radio show. It’s all my teammates ever talked about- they loved this shit! Both were absolutely awful…
