I personally knew someone who did this to her child. But it was fecal matter. Apparently, one of her kids was actually born sick, and she liked the attention so much she started poisoning the others. (Incidentally, she was also a mommy blogger.)

This may be a totally dumb question, but how do these magazines get away with publishing all these stories? They are super entertaining, for sure, but are clearly not real. I bet there are people who believe it, though.

Some places, they don’t pay them at all. Many EMTs (though fewer paramedics) are unpaid volunteers.
To all those who question why this story is being told, I’ll propose that it’s a lot cheerier than the stories of the first responders who got to the scene at Umpqua Community College and discovered one member’s son and another’s niece among the murdered.
I fully agree. I have 2 friends who are EMS & they are such selfless people. Society doesn't pay them nearly enough for the horrible things they have seen. This is a good reminder to text them and just tell them they are awesome.
Did she race to the scene of any other calls that came in during her wedding? Uh,no. She went to this one beacuse it was *her* family. Duh. Who wouldn’t, paramedic or not?
You wouldn’t believe how dedicated most EMTs and paramedics are. During 9/11, our local EMS chief had to confiscate the keys to the ambulances because the crew wanted to drive the 4 hours to NYC to help out.
