My mother has worked in the film industry a long time. And, I sent her a link to the Kristen Stewart piece from Jez last night. And, this was her response:

The joke is supposed to be at the expense of action movies where the heroes are on a quest to save the damsel in distress. This movie is making fun of that by putting a cat in the damsel role and turning the hyper-masculine heroes into cat daddies.

I hope I’m rich enough to afford an invisible chair someday.

can’t keep the happy couple apart.

The pictures look like they were sitting close and chatting and then spoke into each other’s ear. Because they’re screenshots, it gives the impression that this was a “session” when in reality it could have been anything from a ten second hug to a 10min snug.
