Reviews like this one show how good it was for Kotaku to ditch scores all those years ago.
Well written. I’m looking forward to finishing this game sometime in the next few weeks.
I was not prepared emotionally for this.
I can't wait for this, but I'm also still pouring out for my crew The Prince and Elika from 2008. One of my all time favorite games (I even love it more than SoT)
Street Fighter 6 enabling gay daddy ryu fantasies was not on my 2023 bingo card
Also hang onto those Bison Dollars! Every one of those will be worth FIVE British pounds.
It really was a very cool moment. I bounced up to the top of the final tier of the orbiting ships, and thought “okay, now what?” as I momentarily forgot why I’d been climbing up the storm in the first place. Then I looked down.
It’s cool to have all four of them with you and to be able to call on their abilities whenever you want, but I wish they were easier to activate! In the rush of a lynel fight or a boss battle, it can be hard to get the one you want in front of you. I know you can dismiss some of them, but they also do damage on their…
Rijuu’s ability allows you to blow up crumbled rock formations with just arrows. Its helped me for getting through caves early when I had no bombs or wanted to save them.
Yunobo’s ability helps a lot with mining, using it to break through rock walls instead of wasting all your bomb arrows or weapon durability. So if you plan on going into caves at all, don’t sleep on the Fire Temple
Plus, he also came up with an explanation for why Snake didn’t sound like Snake in that game, right?
My favorite reason for not finishing a game was Shadow of the Colossus. I knew nothing of the plot going in and was immediately awed by the grandeur of the colossi. However, by the time I felled the third one, it was clear to me that what I was doing was wrong. These massive, incredible creatures were minding their…
One of the things I really disliked the most about Mario 64 and Sunshine was the fact that you had six stars to get in each world by doing some chore, but most of those involved the exact same path with only slight variation at the end. Really confusing when first playing it (where am I supposed to go? I reached the…
My favorite Mario game remains Super Mario World. Part of this is, obviously, when it came to me in my life. But for me it remains far better than SMB3, and it’s high point was not the level design (or the gorgeous pixel art) but the world map. I still get a rush today re-discovering the secrets within levels that…

“classified FIFA Ultimate Team card packs as “illegal gambling.” Because players can post these digital cards on secondary marketplaces like eBay to make a profit, the district court of Hermagor determined that FUT card packs violate Austria’s gambling laws and demanded that affected players be refunded.”
The source material is actually pretty open-ended (“scifi fascist dystopia with Gothic architecture and demons”), so there’s a lot that you can do with it. Huge clashes between armored humans and aliens? Horror tale on a derelict spaceship? Demonhunters running around stopping cultists? Gang wars in the slums of…
DC: “Hey you wanna be Superman in a new trilogy and other movies? It would take the next 8 years of your life. Here’s the money we’re offering.”
