I lost a friend to a crash that was no fault of his own, because the other guy overcooked a blind turn. It’s not a high horse as much as leftover rage I guess.

Two wrongs don’t make a right. If he’s pushing hard enough that the Caterham is having difficulty keeping up, then he can’t be within reasonable limits around blind turns and such.

Not to be a buzzkill - but if you’re driving in a sufficiently ‘spirited’ manner to get your brakes smoking, then get off public roads to do it. Testing prototypes that way is a risk the driver is welcome to take - but not on behalf of others who happen to just be using a public road.
