This is all evidence that you are, in fact, The Thing.

It’s not really all that surprising, is it? I mean, take auto-tune. That meant labels could just focus on finding artists with “the look”, as the singing could essentially take care of itself (there’s a longer discussion about what it took to normalise autotuned vocals not just as a gimmick but as a standard, but…
Yes to “Sweet Amber”. And the remixed/edited “Some Kind of Monster” is good too. Maybe not “Top 30 songs” good but... let’s face it, with so many albums and tracks, which includes several unquestioned classics, the “real” Top 30 was probably all going to be the exact same songs we all expected (and so it should have…
I don’t know about you, but I appreciate when a review lets me know not to take it seriously really early on like that.
“It’s like I’m watching an X-Men movie. It’s like we have mutants living among us on planet Earth.”

I shouldn’t have laughed as much as I did at this... because, let’s face it, we’re not far off this being used as a legitimate argument.
That’s a real shame, as I honestly enjoyed this movie a lot.
Would Chadwick Boseman count for Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom? Hell of a final performance.
Whoever gets the call for the next series of Guardians movies (whatever the line-up may be) should really consider re-using Ultron (and using him properly) because... he deserves it.
In Joss Whedon’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, Natasha refers to herself as a “monster” for being unable to have kids...
The current Captain America run (the one focussed on Steve, rather than Sam) just introduced M.O.D.O.C. - the Mental Organism Designed Only for Control - and actually brought some of the menace back (so far, anyway).
There’s a bitter, bitter irony in right-wingers spending so much time ranting about how everyone else is out there bearing “the mark of the beast” when they proudly wear the sign of who they’ve sold their souls to on their lapel.
I would say “Moonbase 8" was the best of them... but I was honestly surprised how much heart that “Space Force” developed in the second season, and how saddened I was when it wasn’t renewed. I was actively rooting for those characters during S2.
Personally, I wouldn’t have changed a thing but... we’ll see! Change isn’t always bad, and 100% faithfulness to the source material is no guarantee of a good adaptation either.
To be fair, it might not be an issue in the overall scheme of things - depends on how they handle it, and what else they do with the film (which I still have high hopes for!).
One major plot point has been reworked in the narrative’s latter half in the interests of mainstream cinematic taste—arguably for the best—but it signals a cascading effect on the events of the third act that somewhat undermines the novel’s greatest strength: ambiguity.
Ph’nglui mglw’nafh Cthulhu R’lyeh wgah’nagl fhtagn... I tell you what.
Thank you for reminding me what it was called!
I loved this movie - it is going to be part of my regular Christmas rotation for the rest of my life - but I am not entirely sure it needs a sequel, which might end up losing some of the magic.
