Cumberbatch?
Cumberbatch?
As I’ve said before, I don’t think he gets subtext (even though he clearly thinks he does). Which is why although he’s often great with overt, super-liminal imagery, he only ever seems to be able to see/interpret it one way, the way it is in his head, which doesn’t always translate to the screen, sadly.
And they’re still going as well (I mean, I don’t like them, or dislike them, but I can always respect perseverance in any band).
The whole “OMG a Metal band won Eurovision!” thing has been hilarious for a bunch of reasons, not just because of the frustrating “why do you even care about mainstream acceptance/validation?” factor, but also because apparently this is what mainstream audiences think Metal is?
Well, at least it’s better than their brothers Both Sides Bear and False Equivalency Ferret.
Ah, yes, reductio ad absurdam, the go-to argument for for all “deep” thinkers.
You seem to forget that WWE is at its heart, scripted.
I think we may finally be over the hump on the Superhero trend, or at least the now beaten-to-death attempts at deconstructing it (which I think totally miss the point of what people see in it)
I realise that’s an “exceptional” diet for Marky Mark, but stuff like this, combined with his crazily regimented schedule, really make me feel like the guy doesn’t have must joy in his life - not that he doesn’t love his family, and his job, and all that sort of thing - but the impression he gives off is of someone…
That list has big “we shared a stage with [insert famous band]... by which I mean we opened a festival 12 hours before they played and they weren’t even in the venue at that point” energy.
“[Marvel] should know that people are going to ask about this stuff from time to time.”

A couple spring to mind:
You’re laughing now, but in a couple of generations when this has taken root as a new tradition in the vein of “sacrifice an older member of the tribe via explosion to make room for the new life”, well... I doubt you’ll be laughing then. Because you’ll have been exploded (and so will I, most likely).
Yeah, at the start the speech felt a little forced (though Mackie was clearly going all-in to sell it) but around half-way through it just suddenly clicked... and that’s when he became Captain America.
Ha, I hadn’t even realised that. Now they really should do it.
Some of those internet scamps are already saying Marvel should scoop up Cavill to be Hercules since he’s been/being wasted as Superman by DC.
Yeah, although I enjoyed Soul for what it was, Wolfwalkers is head-and-hairy-shoulders above it.
Yeah, this whole article seems very “conclusion first, then shape the premise and argument to fit”, as evidenced by bits like that and the part where he argues both for and against the idea of Steve being inherently “a good man” within the same paragraph.
Isn’t that generally the case though?
