I wear hats a fair amount for a very practical reason. Hat brims are useful for reducing glare if, like me, you wear glasses or prescription sunglasses (and, I suppose, non-prescription sunglasses as well). For better or worse, however, modern seating in cars makes wearing broad-brim hats difficult, so when I’m

No, it’s not a crime (as far as I can see, at least in my jurisdiction).  On the other hand, civil actions can be costly.

Lawyer here (ducks).

I can understand this. I have owned as many as three bicycles at once (down to one now) and as many as six guitars (down to five, trying to go to four: flatpicking, fingerpicking, classical, and electric).

OK, but this opens up an interesting question. If you own a more accurate rifle for hunting (the bolt-action), then why do you have the AR-15?

Kohl’s FTW.  I’m seriously cheap.  I’m a lawyer, and almost all of my ties come from Goodwill.

I’m wearing some jeans with a little stretch right now. $30 at Kohl’s, if I remember correctly. No, they do not keep me dry. Yes, they are comfortable and way more comfortable than all-cotton denim when I’m riding my bike.

Trust me--you don’t know my spouse.

I suspect that things work for me because I have comparatively few bacteria on my skin, either because of the morning shower or because of something else about my metabolism.  Maybe because I’m T1 diabetic. Who knows?

That’s true--and body chemistry can change over time.  But we’ve been hornswoggled with this (as with so many other things) into thinking that this is an absolute necessity for everyone.

I don’t know how other people handle this, but I shower every morning, and I haven’t used a deodorant in decades. Even when I was bicycling eight miles to work in a Midwestern summer, I’d shower first and do a quick de-sweat wipe-down and change into work clothes when I arrived, and no complaints from my officemates.

Not a romantic screwup per se...

I will say that the quality of food in DC (at least around Dupont Circle) declined when Mrs. Simpson’s closed.

American cheese is unamerican.

Am I the only person who likes wire hangers? For shirts, they’re great because they don’t take up any more space than they need to. I recently got a bunch and Spouse looked at my kind of cross-ways.

An homage it may be intended to be, but it’s not orange.

That’s a fair point. I think it’s a useful term in many regards, but its over-application may have robbed it of much of that usefulness.

When I was quick-scanning through the article, the thing that stood out by its (apparent) absence was MPDG. I mean, isn’t this pretty close to Cohen’s Suzanne?

It matches certain “Bill the Cat” aspects.

Agreed as to the band TWoD, though in this case I was referring to the BNL song (92 on the list above), which I find incredibly powerful.
