I hate chrome. It’s cheap bling (if that isn’t redundant). But the forehead on those cars is what makes them stand out. When I was a kid, my parents had a ‘57 Chevy wagon, and it just looked right to me (they sold it when they bought a ‘67 Fury III, their first new car, which never really did).

I live in Connecticut. I drive in all conditions. A couple of years back, I had to drive to JFK to pick up a friend. Because many flights were cancelled on account of the weather. It took me three hours to make what is normally a 90-minute trip, because the snow was BAD.

I work in the midwest and holding doors is a common enough activity. . . . I also live in state where people CANNOT get the concept of the 4-way stop down...

The only one I’ve ever seen was in Orem, Utah.  Seemed appropriate, somehow.

Let me introduce you to the Honda Fit. Not quite so many colors, but dang! there are a lot of different ones out there.

In my high school electronics class (1975-6) the instructor refused to let students use calculators. But he allowed slide rules.

See also, well, essentially the entire NASA program that put human beings on the moon...so consider the Saturn V.

And remember that not all of us use sauce all of the time. Sometimes spaghetti with Parmesan and Cheddar is just right. And yes, I am a philistine...

For my entire life, I have generally poured what seems right into my palm—somewhere around a teaspoon or so--and then dumped that into the pot. This has been true for all types of pasta, and in many different pots (though I will add more if I’m using a huge pot). I never measure the amount of water, so...

It’s always going to depend on the cat ;-)

I’ve never had any trouble getting cats to come when called. As for getting their attention, I find a repeated “tsk” sound to be effective.

Looks gorgeous, but how do the keytops feel?  Are they as flat as they look, or do they have some curve?  I’ve been spoiled by Lenovo’s “new” keyboard design...

It goes well wrapped around lamb or—for something nice and cool—chilled cantaloupe.

Love it, but shouldn’t that be Joe’s ‘Vette?

It may be that familiarity breeds contempt, but I thought that the one I saw over and over in school in the ‘70s was perfect. There was no drama. For a long time, it was boring. That’s how it’s supposed to be (IMO). It shows something normal.  Seeing absurdity of the normal (and the normality of the absurd) was

It’s been a movie. I think I saw it just about every year in school, ranging from Jr. High on. IMDB doesn’t list it, but it turns up on a YouTube, and that says 1969:

See above...

So they say.
