God, Yaweh, Zeus, Ra, whoever: Please make Subaru release a widebody Spec-C, Spec-R, Spec-Something, and give them the courage to release it to the unwashed masses in the (dirt-road-aplenty) US of A.

Since come fall we will finally be able to get the A3 with the 2.0t motor and the Haldex AWD system, I'll just take one of those over this thing. Should be about the same price.

@notford: I think perhaps you mistook what I meant, and I probably should not have used the term 'fatally'. In fact, I would drive any of those cars that I mentioned. My own personal fantasy garage includes multiple Vettes, a handful of porsches, at least 6 ferraris, and every generation of GT-R Nissan made, including

Yes the GT-R, by virtue of it's relatively low price tag, will make it available to wankers and douchebags, and it's performance numbers will do little to help that. But the infecting influence of a typical customer is not a problem that is limited to the GT-R.

@danio3834: No it's not, MT clocked the Z06 at 11.5, C&D at 11.7.

@danio3834: A stock vette under 11.1? Maybe with drag slicks, the Z06 as tested by MT went 11.5, C&D got 11.7.

@Novaload: Are you trying to run an advertisement for the GT-R? The McLaren F1 (which needs no introduction)? The Porsche GT1 (even rarer than the McLaren)? A track-special race vette (that was never street legal AFAIK)? A Mercedes DTM car (track car or homologation special, does it matter?)? A $1m hypercar? And a

Gumpert Sportwagenmanufaktur GmbH announced today that the 2008 driver lineup for the Gumpert Apollo sports car will include Engelbert Humperdinck and Flaptyjack Bandywack. A representative for the team said simply: "Bork bork bork".

You think Joe at the bachelor party was awkward, wait till that creep insists on holding the camera for the wedding night sex tape.

I don't think any single statement captures the fall of this once small, once iconic truck as well as "and a new backup camera".

This is bullshit, it's hard enough to pass in F1 as it is, now you're stuck on that little metal rail with a horn that doesn't work?

@Peter S.: Well, given that it will be the size of an Accord, not a civic, that could be a reason. Plus, we don't know the pricing yet, it could be more economical than a 40 mpg civic for many people.

@AndyDuncan: They also claim that the system improves regular fuel economy, most likely through the additional battery capacity, so that could make the payoff come sooner.

Some back of the napkin calcs (please feel free to check this math, it's probably wrong):

@dculberson: Right, and neither would about 80% of the commuting population of Los Angeles. Put charging sockets in parking spaces and you could probably get 90% of daily commutes covered.

Of course GM only realized what had happened when they found the skinned chassis of the donor Malibu in an elevator shaft. By that time the Volt was already in the Bahamas, dining on sweet electrons with fava beans and a nice Chianti... faff faff faff faff faff

@clevernamehere: And, by the way, most sports lose money. At most schools even the football team loses money.

@clevernamehere: So it's ok if they cut a men's team that's filled with athletes that want to play, even if nobody wants to watch, but it's not ok to cut a women's team that is filled with athletes that want to play because nobody wants to watch?
