@zerotrinity: Yeah, who does Subaru think they are? Nissan?

@yellofury: Yup. Makes sense since the forrester is based on the impreza, right? You'd think they'd change it a little more, but hey, economies of scale...

@respawn: Well, I think they should go for consistency rather than casual apparent consistency. Quite frankly I don't think the FIA should be determining their rulings based on what people who don't follow the sport think.

everybodys bitching about this like the FIA has some sort of double standard when in fact this is the exact same penalty (none) they gave mclaren when there was no evidence that the information was actually used in the car. If anything this is a rare case of the FIA being remarkably consistent in their rulings.

Lots of short-shifting and early braking, I'd love to see what this thing could do with a really hot lap when they aren't worried about breaking an expensive pre-production mule.

To bitch about this even more: if this is such a money saver for the utilities then why aren't they buying lithium ion batteries by the truckload to offset their production? Oh, that's right, because the lifecycle of these batteries is too short to pay off their huge costs with the savings from capacity leveling.

Yes, and all you, as a consumer, have to do is put unnecessary load cycles on your retardedly expensive battery packs!

@cgarison: You mean the one with the "TRD" sticker on it with "TRD" blacked-out with a sharpie? Probably.

So, the 2009 Vibe is coming out in February 2008? Is the 2010 model coming out in march? if so, I'll wait.

I want so badly to say "*yawn* these horsepower wars have just gotten ridiculous." But then, a 600+hp BMW wagon would be, well, it would be f-ing awesome, if only because then Mercedes would have to ship an E65 twin-turbo V12 wagon to avoid looking like a bunch of f*cking sissies.

@harumph: Here's nissan's page on "e-4wd"

@rgseidl: Hawaii does a (yearly?) safety inspection of all cars. Not sure of any other states that do.

Being a caterpillar turbine rather than an aviation turbine, it's going to be damn heavy. Performance is likely to make a large sucking sound.

Given that their signature car is heavily rear-biased in it's weight distribution, I think true gearheads should pronounce it "por-SHAAAAAAAAAAAA" with the "sha" shouted at the top of your lungs.

The Veyron is a car built around a singular idea: A usable car with 1000hp. Everything else about the car is built to enable that vision, and the records it sets are more an effect rather than a goal.

The saddest thing about the McLaren F1 was that they only made 100 of them. It's the ultimate driver's car, and there's not enough of them around to drive. Kudos to whoever still drives theirs around. Some of these should be saved in pristine condition, the others should be hooned at least weekly.

@WheatKing: A diesel with 74hp is poor, but not undrivable, the power:weight ratio on this thing isn't going to be much worse than larger delivery vans. The main reason you don't see more of these in NA is that Work People Drive Trucks. It's tradition and image more than practicality. This thing would make a perfect

The thing that separates the McLaren F1 from all other hyper-cars was that it was all-around terrific. It wasn't a vette-motored tube-frame special built by a guy named Doug in his garage, it was the best product that the best engineers on the planet could produce at that time (and maybe even still). Most cars that

Damn that supercharger/intercooler is compact. This is going to make one hell of a crate motor.

Of course it's a sport, I just don't particularly care for it.
