Our candy would be confiscated the minute we stepped in the house, and we’d be given one piece per day in our lunches, but really my Dad ate most of it.

I’ve seen my share of cops with their shirts off.

That is just the way the fat has blistered and folded during cooking. It is the wrong size and texture for a pig nipple, even the base of one. This is what happens when you have an urbanized population who normally subsist only on heavily processed meals, they don’t know what their food is supposed to look like.

i bought the metal version of these & they don’t work at all - the egg leaks out the bottom.

Maybe. But some stores definitely honored it. Multiple convenience stores around where I grew up in Sonoma County, Ca had no problem giving us free tootsie pops for a star wrapper.

I’ll confess to owning a couple of silicone egg rings for making rather pretty breakfast sandwiches. That said, it’s not difficult to form the egg to the appropriate shape while it cooks.
