Their likely all close friends who regularly hung out and known each for years. Bunch of friends started their own company. Sorry, they didn’t whip out the clipboard and start checking those societal quotas.

You keep centering on the fact they used to work at Blizzard but thats it.. they USED to work there. I have yet to see why they no longer work there. We they part of the problem? did they hate what was going on there and leave? or are you just assuming they were part of the problem because they are male?
Is that where we are in the world though? I have mostly male friends. If my friends and I decide to start our own business/company, are we are now forced to include people who we may or may not trust just simply to impart some image to people like you?
They left that company. I don’t know if they were part of the problem or share any of that same culture, but my point is neither do you or the author.
Or, stay with me here, it’s just somebody’s dog.
How long has this company been around? Since it was started by a bunch of friends and they have the positions they need filled for now then there’s no reason to look for outside talent. This article would make more sense when they do hire people once they’ve gone beyond the startup status....
No. They should feel no pressure at all. Its their studio, this is still America, and they can still hire whoever they want, for whatever reason they want.
Is it a law that they have to? Are there black people? Asian people? why stop at women? Just because they were former Blizzard devs? The entire site is full of clowns.
you are a parody of a human being. every day I am thankful that my kids don’t buy this sort of effortless self-righteous nonsense.
Let’s try a variation of the headline:
Where does the article mention their skin color? Like does that really need to be dragged into the equation when it literally has nothing to do with the article? Not only that, but you’re wrong too.
Now imagine how different this article would be if the company was all women.
Clearly you never started your own company. Imagine the pitch: Hey, we don’t have any funding yet, and can’t offer you and benefits, so the risks are super high because we only started few months ago. So, do you want to join our 9 person team and risk your career so far?
Because it’s a start-up. Quick, imagine you’re making a new company. Ask all your friends who is willing to quit and join you, coworkers included. I can bet you what you want and what you end up getting is a different group of people. Person “perfect” for the job? Not interested. Person who stands to gain the most?…
Next up on Kotaku: Small startup studio only has 1 woman in their staff
I mean, unless you know what they were looking for “easily” comes with so many caveats.
Did you seriously feel a need to write this article? Why? Whether a small development studio is all male or all female or what-have-you does not matter. Your statement of, “So, presumably, the founder had met at least a couple of women who were skilled enough to work at one of the highest-profile video game companies…
Jeez...it’s a freaking startup, can you just give him some slack.
Well no I don't think the writers actually killed off Laurel in order to make room for Ollie and Felicity. It's pretty clear they were going in that direction whether she lived or died. I just think at least a small part of the motivation is to make it clear to fans that they are never going back to that well because…
Holy Lord Jesus. There's no point to me saying any of this, because this community is so aggressively ignorant and anti-science on these subjects, but FUCKING NO. No. Evolutionary psychology is a legitimate discipline, built on the recognition that our brains evolved with the rest of us. Evolutionary psychologists,…
