Well, the synopsis doesn't sound bad. Just incredibly boring. I mean, normally a synopsis states protagonists, antagonists and the end goal for either of them. This one just says "well this is happening". Yeah, so?
I was going to mention it in my previous reply, that there are different levels of awareness or consciousness but I wasn't really sure I was correct in stating that. Part of me thinks that there are, but one could assume consciousness or awareness, well, either you are or you're not.
That's why I used the word "certain". Grey parrots may react like humans when offered a puzzle, but it fails in other regards. Being human requires a whole lot of conditions (that we still haven't which ones they are).
You could similarly write a computer program that reacts like a human to certain stimuli, and still doesn't make it conscious.

On Battlestar Galactica (I saw it after it was over) it was 33. I just felt the same stress everyone else was feeling on the show and I thought to myself: oh now this... this is different.
