Separate and mostly unrelated comment. Hispanic isn’t really a racial indicator. That is why the census allows you to put hispanic/white or hispanic/black. It is an ethnic indicator.

Being a woman does not insulate one from the consequences of being a rotten, horrible asshole. Seems like the sobriquets apply here.
No, we’re not. We can talk about it.
Someone cross-post this to Jezebel where they seem to believe that women never, ever, ever do this.
Any pizza is a personal pan pizza if you believe in yourself. Keep living your best life. (No snark.)
Does “whodat whodat” count as non-chorus?
The onslaught of people calling her hair ugly, bushy, unkempt, a mess, and on and on would have been relentless.
Definitely.
If they have kids, it will probably be better for the kids to not be exposed to their grandparents’ bigotry.
This is exactly true. The 2016 elections were great for pointing out these people . Racists/sexists who are otherwise unremarkable co workers, neighbors...old friends, sadly. People are perfectly capable of being lovely to you when you are White Like Them, even great with select Jewish, or black, or brown or women,…
As far as I can see, they don’t regret their vote for Trump yet. They love their daughter in law, but are completely able to separate “Well, of course we’re okay with THOSE kind of Muslims, but not the kind Trump wants to ban from being in America” and if not being able to see their daughter in law/grandchildren is…
Yeah, I have a friend who was born in Iran, immigrated to Canada at 5. She’s atheist but was raised in a Muslim household so Trump would probably classify her as “Muslim”. Her white husband’s parents who live in Ohio voted for Trump despite their son begging them not to because it would mean his wife and their future…
Yeah exactly. This is pretty depressing, like yeah she’s a fucking idiot but those kids, and her idiot husband who was fine with being married to a bigot.
I suspect that more than a few Americans have Muslim/gay/African-American friends,co-workers and think that they are “lovely people “, and then because they personally know these people that that makes their friends/ co-workers honorary “white people”, so that they exempt them from their unspoken bigotry.
This perfectly encapsulates the GOP supporters voting against their own interests. “Well sure but I’m one of the good [women/immigrants/gay people/Muslims/etc] so obviously they aren’t talking about me when they explicitly say they want to harm my specific group.”
It’s the SNL skit about the pitch meeting come to life.
Not one person in that video voted.
Sometimes when I see ridiculous commercials, I try to imagine what that pitch meeting must have been like, and I feel like the phrase “protest is the new brunch” was uttered in this one.
Another thing... Having visited NYC a bunch of times (more that I’m now living on the East Coast), I found this “you can’t make it here” attitude mostly coming from transplants from other places (who now think of themselves as “NEW YORKERS!) rather than actual, born-and-bred New Yorkers, who generally don’t give a…
P.S. Chicago is also a city, just a different one, so why are people acting like you moved to a farm lay eggs or something?
