It's not even mocking someone for their tastes. It's mocking them for being interested in bands with unfamiliar names.

Hipster gets used in two ways:

The bunny ears?

They're basically a dulled down version of an interesting music genre. Unfortunately, for mainstream music listeners the popular band defines the genre.

Bland is such an understatement.

I always felt alienated by these movies because the ugly girl was always the cutest and the movies never drove home that none of it was really all that important. I think Heathers is the only one that even came close, and maybe Veronica Mars managed to present the idea that high school is full of human beings not

I've never seen numbers that prove this. The industry started making a killing on compilations in the late 70s and early 80s because people didn't want to buy the albums. The industry had it's best years at a time when they weren't selling singles. It seems much more evident that the industry boomed when banks started

They've been offering a blond for over a year now. I've tried it and it tasted just as awful as Tim Hortons. You'd probably like it.

Explaining the love people have for Dave Matthews is a lot like explaining the love people have for Pabst Blue Ribbon, or the way some people put Sriracha on everything. The appeal is understandable, but the level they take it to is not.

I like strong coffee. What I don't understand is how Starbucks got by selling larger quantities of a stronger coffee. I prefer the Italian model, one small strong coffee that takes a couple minutes to drink.

This is mostly from the top of my head but the video is basically a Cinderella story with an awkwardly executed feminist/rock culture slant. ZZ Top plays the role of Fairy Godmother and the car is magical. The clothing is the style for that particular subculture. You'll find something similar at a rock-a-billy show.

Wow, to think I almost forgot how contemptible his generation of indie-rock fans could be. The reality is he doesn't have a problem with being open minded, he has a problem with listening to music that requires more than an ounce of effort on his part. The guy couldn't even figure out why his wife liked Grey's Anatomy.

Cause they're both Texas Boogie when you listen to something other than Legs.

He made a throwaway remark about a band that people just happened to be sensitive about. I'm sure the original blogger has written hundreds about bands that were much ruder and dismissive.

Just remember that "suck my cock" is a dumb school yard taunt nobody ever seriously considered the literal meaning of until Mark used it as a lyric.

"What makes you say the Velvets never cared much for songcraft?" cause I didn't… but I would say the pop moments on VU almosts were more accidental or even natural. They never have had the grand focus on turning out something lyrically and melodically refined the way The Beatles did. It's one of the reasons the

I've always found it amusing that fans of The Beatles constantly feel the need to defend the most universally praised band ever.

I will also say that it appears that Read was referring to The Beatles during the period were he discovered most of his influences. So he probably was referring to the boy band.

The Velvet Underground are a complete departure from what The Beatles are. The VU never cared much for songcraft as much as they cared about sound, emotion, and poetry. If anything The Beatles were Britain's answer to Bob Dylan and early American rock in general.

So glad to see these guys earning some success.
