I think "Hot for Teacher" demonstrates that Van Halen could be a solid rhythmic band when they needed to be.

It seems like Led Zeppelin fell off the map as far as over-all influences go. By the time the 80s rolled around it seemed like the biggest influences from the 70s where power-pop bands like Cheap Trick, Kraftwerk, and the British New Wave of Heavy Metal. The author of the article is correct in saying that shredding

If Nirvana had any significant influence on post grunge, post-grunge wouldn't have sucked so bad.

"So beyond even their own sonic merits, Raw Power, White Light/White Heat, and Pink Moon are all considered classics. "

Absolutely disagree. Rock music has been using the same verse-chorus-bridge-solo structures, lyric patterns, time signatures, and chord progressions since the 70s. The only thing that really changes in rock is the production style. Pop on the other hand at least experiments with different time signatures and song

I've always felt the same way in places where everybody likes modern and classic rock.

It's also time for people to tell us all that you can take any 6 pop songs and have the line up just as well.

Ummmm no. Maybe if your definition of 'all genres' is stuff you've only heard on the radio with room for assumptions about jazz, and classical. Let's be honest here, it's really only modern rock and country that have sounded the same for the last 20 years. Pop music will at least change it's beat and production style,

If they're giving the albums the kind of treatment that Criterion gives their releases then maybe. Then again, it seems like $35 is becoming the upper-middle on a new vinyl prices. It seems that labels that are genuinely interested in selling their music on vinyl still have decent prices, but everybody else is selling

I saw him in 2014 and it was really awesome.

They lost that charming needle in the red bombast when they moved to Columbia records. I'm just glad I got a copy of Thunder, Lightning, Strike before before it was remixed.

I should have emphasized that I was talking about why there is such a long gap between Loveless and mbv.

Is it just me or are the only people reporting on this snarky bookworms that neither skate or listen to Nick Cave? Cave is a regular customer at the skate shop and Nick Cave songs often show up on skate videos and the image isn't at odds with the subjects Nick Cave covers in his lyrics.

I don't know why the DeLeo's didn't just go and find another vocalist.

Also Netflix Canada.

I always thought this guy was dead.

Wii U is perfect if you have younger kids and video games are a secondary interest.

I don't know about that. All the bullshit they experienced while trying to record and release Loveless completely destroyed their interest in making more music. For instance, the owner of Creation hated (and still hates) Loveless and wasn't supporting them at all on it.

I would love to see Rick Nielsen turning everything into power pop.

Jodorowsky's Dune is on Netflix. Though it would be great if the documentary generated enough interest to release more of the material they generated.
