That stomping live version of Drive on the Monster-era B-side is fucking great, man.

Best Trans-Continental Member-Fluid Combo of All Time?

Agreed, sir.
And New Adventures, to me at least, takes a while longer to reveal its greatness, but boy once you did, did it deliver.

I will say they have the best unbroken streak of great albums of all time.
Eight original albums and an EP with nary a duff track.

Well, on one of the U Talkin U2 To Me he already listed some of his favorites.
Some i recall offhand:
1. Half A World Away
2. Hairshirt ("great song!")
3. Untitled ("My favorite track on the album!)

The Wonder Stuff singles collection, If The Beatles Had Read Hunter… was my first exposure to them. I still love A Wish Away, Hot Love Now and Full of Life.

"This song is about the commercialization of the commerlization of…"

Good to hear Josh is a fan of the Sinatras.
I joined Pledgemusic to help fund their new one.
It was a great album, too.
And In The Music was patchy, sure, but it had Oranges and Apples plus that Carly Simon duet.

That third Sundays REcord was more than "OK".
True, the old floaty sound was gone, but the songs are more simple and direct.
And hey, the CD version has "So Much", which was not available on cassettes and Asian pressings of the LP.

I Dont Owe You Anything is the best Smiths Song never mentioned by anyone as their favorite.
Please discuss.

The Dollop already did Mike The Headless Chicken brilliantly, guys.
Skip it.

If only Adam Scott Aukerman would do that REM podcast….
if only so we can hear Talkin Bout Turtle, I Love I Love Films and Whats Your Fuckstyle all over again

I think it was Tony Fletcher's book that put forth the theory that REM was a balanced force, with Berry and Buck preferring things raw and quick while Stipe and Mills were more detailed but prone to overthinking… And David Buckley's Fiction book also describes how Mills and Stipe usually comes late in the day to the

Document was uneven as fuck. That drumsound on Lightning Hopkins was the worst sound that ever came out of Berry's drumkit.
And i never warmed to the LP version of Occupation. The best version of that song was when they did it on the Green tour.

fucking Skylarking, man. Great album

Murmur also has the obligatory "levity" track ("We Walk"; also see Underneath the Bunker), just so we can realize how utterly awesome the songs surrounding it are.

Dude, Reveal has Beat a Drum and Beachball, two of the most underrated songs in the REM canon.
Keep it!

Actually, it was by the Clique.
Years later, Gary Zekley, the songwriter got up onstage to sing it with REM, though he wasn't actually a member of the Clique

Look PArk is great, especially if you're into Aztec Camera and PRefab Sprout.
But Collingwood overdoes the nasal thing sometimes.
