Unlike Bay and Shyamalan, who, IMHO, have interesting concepts and ideas but often fall short (or overreach) in execution, i think what upsets me about Goyer is that, Batman aside, his grip on the DCU's characters are off.

The MArvel movies have been so consistent (even the Thor ones increase in charm the more you watch them) that it's become comfort food.
The ball is in DC's court to make edgier, more challenging superhero movies, but since they have David Goyer, it's inevitable they'll fuck it up.
