That's probably exactly what occurred. As it is their service they probably were privy to it if they really wanted to. Not that they'd ever truly admit to it.

To be fair, prostitutes and escorts run the risk of disease, pimp beatings, robbery, and random shankings. That's a good discouragement, money aside.
