@morphoyle: If you want to be really UI-geeky, Apple did away with brushed metal in OS X 10.5 (except, unfortunately, in Final Cut, which I use frequently), and if you look at the OS X changes throughout the years, you notice the window buttons slowly sinking into the window, a little nicer in my opinion.

@Christopher Rotkopf: It was more directed to the official Google Reader app, hence the "come on Google" quip. They should be setting an example for devs in their apps as well as the system UI, which I hear is very pretty in Gingerbread.

Not trying to start a flamewar here, but, while I'm sure all the apps are brilliant, why is it that almost all Android apps have horrid UI's? I mean, come on Google. Take some cue's from apps like Reeder or sites like Beautiful Pixels.

@Cheese Addict: I run Final Cut perfectly on my OEM Dell, Firewire capture and all. My colleague's hackintosh though (which I hastily threw together for some emergency last minute editing, film class) cannot export properly. You must open a reference file in Quicktime then "Save As…". Exporting causes a Kernel Panic

@MajorGroove: The ones who write for the mainstream blogs: Engadget, TechCrunch, CNET, and, of course, Giz.

@WUSS: I'm just making the point that when Joe Q. Commenter says "Ugh, why the hell are you all using Macs. Don't you know Macs suck and are worse than a BSODing camel with chlamydia? I can't believe you are so stupid!", I am more inclined to follow the example of the blogger.

Good god people. If nearly every one of the best technology bloggers in the world uses Macbooks don't you think there might actually be something to them?

Finally a use for Safari Reader. To make red bolded text actually readablTHIS STATMENT IS VERIFIABLY INCORRECT.

Honorable mention to River of News. The best iPad RSS app after Reeder. Might even be better if they worked out some bugs and speed issues.

@Gotlactose: Maybe I don't fly as frequently as some businesspeople (about 1-2 times a year), but the 5-10 minutes it takes to go through security never really bothers me that much.

@Ninja_peach: Cheap upconverts made for SpikeTV or other such nonsense from existing standard-def releases. I'm assuming the new ones are fresh remasters captured from the original master film (captures from film can go up to about 4K).

Has the ever-silent Black Stig got a new job?

@nmoline: The idea is that the apps are so much more easily accessible and discoverable in the App Store vs. the developer's website that the extra sales generated will more than make up for the 30% cut.
