There is hope! In the cruelest thing King has ever written, the lengthy sequence where Louis imagines he grabbed Gage at the last minute. It goes on and on in such detail, with not just happiness but relief and gratitude, and it makes you believe in it despite the previous pages, and then King snaps out of it and it’s

Santa Clarita Diet is tied with The Good Place in terms of number of laugh-out-loud moments, IMHO.

As long as I actually laugh out loud while sitting alone watching it at least once per episode the sitcom is a success in my eyes. Santa Clarita Diet is hugely successful in my eyes.

Yeah i was about to say. His no shits given about anything yet finds mild amusement in everthing take on Zzazz made him a highlight villain of the show.

Oooh Chaucer quotes!

I probably could defend Knights Tale on its merits, except for every scene that Shannyn Sossamon is in (ack I hated that character). Every other character is well written, the script is incredibly clever and funny, the design is fun once you get used to it, there’s even some light discussion of class and gender issues.

Agreed. I think Gadot was helped a lot by Pine’s supporting role and also Patty Jenkins was able to give her small character moments to make her more appealing and rootable. It’s one of those where she’s good for right now, but a potentially better version of character is out there to be found.

I remember someone saying “It’s hard to tell if Gal Gadot is genuinely a good actress, but I can tell you she’s perfect to play Wonder Woman.” I agree with that sentiment.

The best thing about Gadot’s performance is that it’s unrelentingly earnest. Sometimes, that leads to her lines landing with a clunk, but it’s worth it because the entire movie depends on her earnest belief that ending WWI is as simple as killing Ares. Later that earnestness manifests itself in the sharp contrast

Clarke was very progressive on race for his background. Re-read Imperial Earth re: the Mackenzie clan

Interesting premise, except I would reverse it and have the aliens better the lives of non-whites but have them harvest the whites.

I am with you. I couldn’t stop groaning at Malek seemingly trying to do an Austin Powers impersonation the whole movie to notice the editing.

I think that’s the strength of the MCU over previous Marvel and even DC efforts. The casting is the 2nd MVP of the MCU after Feige. It’s why I’m looking forward to the MCU X-men and Fantastic Four. The Fox movies did a great job with Jackman, Fassbender, Mcavoy and Stewart, but almost everyone else seemed wrong for

I think I was won over in the first movie when he shows up to the press conference with the sack of cheeseburgers. I chuckled and was like “Yeah okay, I’m hooked.”

That’s probably because it is a direct homage to the title image of the source material. MCU has great casting, but the true success of the MCU is owed to the underlying character development and story arcs from the comics.

I can’t believe this is a world where ROBERT REDFORD gives an earnest “Hail Hydra”.

RDJ could have been nominated for Supporting Actor that year and I wouldn’t have batted an eye. I still think it’s his best go at the character.

Honestly I think it’s both RDJ and Evans best performances in an MCU movie. It’s also the movie that truly cemented them as the true core of the MCU going forward from that point and I think both actors embraced that. This was also a smart move by Marvel because they are the most most relatable characters with very

His line reading when he said “You’re going to come with us BECAUSE IT’S US!” was a good example of what you’re saying, I think.
