I also like going to the movies, for the theatrical experience (saw the original Jurassic Park in a 100 year old theater near me last night, in fact). But it’s hard to argue with people who say they have a busy life/kids, and they just want to relax at the end of the week with a movie in their living rooms, without

I love movies and going to movies and I used to take my kids and niece all the damn time. Like everything else, they’ve just become so exhausting and expensive. Before the pandemic we would hit all the blockbuster movies (some multiple times) - Star Wars, Marvel, Lego this and that, Pixar and Disney. It was fun. Now we

I’m not a fan of Aegon the character at all, but I do have to say I’ve really been enjoying the actor’s performance. He’s not scenery chewing, just a quiet performance that feels very genuinely like a confused kid trying to figure out how the hell to step into this role.

It is better than those YT interpretations. Yes, Dutton does correct an environmentalist about some assumptions, but it’s hardly the climate change denialism that headline would imply. Also, there are great characters with believable, complex motivations, particularly the indigenous peoples characters. Seasons four

It’s more him being one part Cowboy Yoda and one part Cattle Baron Palpatine.

Most of the bad-ass scenes are Cole Hauser punching someone or Kelly Reilly snarking bad dialogue.

Yeah, little tough to market the man who wished gang rape upon his girlfriend as the guy who aligns with and helps rescue goddesses.

For that matter, it felt passe not long after it was published. It was a hit, sure, but within six months you could find STACKS for 30% off at Borders. They thought it would be the second coming of Bonfire but it was only like the one and a half coming.

I was blown away (pun intended) when I clocked him in that movie! HE WAS THE ONE TO PUSH THE DAMN BUTTON!

CZ Guest was probably the most benign of the “swans.” She had serious and well respected interests in gardening and horticulture. The other swans were mostly ornamental. I suspect that the actual Mrs. Guest was somewhat mild and reserved but in the previews Sevigny portrays her with an energy, anger and bitchiness

I’m in the same place. I love Alan Wake 2 the movie. But Alan Wake 2 the game is an absolute slog. It feature some of the worst padding I’ve seen in a narrative game, every animation is purposefully slow for no reason, the shooting feels okay but random number of bullets for headshot kills are odd.

Rosamund Pike was so effective in Gone Girl that male casting directors were “terrified” of her for years afterward. It remains one of the most chilling performances I’ve ever seen.

Jennifer Coolidge is not in the same universe as Rhea when it comes to acting. You can tell how great a performance and a show is when the last season airs, it’s so painful, it takes months to bring yourself to watch it again. And you cared so much you talk about the characters as if they’re acquaintances who have

You know who I think would do it justice? Damon Lindelof. He's got a heavy interest in religion and spirituality, and his work on The Leftovers convinced me he'd get the tone right for The Stand.

I don’t understand why Manuel thinks it’s out of character. It’s completely in Coach Beard’s wheelhouse to derail a presser by getting into a shouting match about classic rock. I often find myself wondering “what show has Manuel been watching?” when reading these recaps.

How is it that Tom or no one else (but Greg, apparently) knows how to talk to Logan yet, this far into the series? He always wants competition, someone to try to get on his level, he hates mealy-mouthed bullshit because he gets it all the time. The “where are your kids, Uncle Logan” was probably the most real sentence

To me, the show works so well because almost all the main characters have very recognizable human flaws exacerbated by enormous wealth in clear ways. We’ve all met a grumpy old dickhead, or a stoner with unrealistic dreams and a bit of a messiah-complex, or a sarcastic know-it-all, or an inappropriate little d-bag.

Having attended the wealthiest school in Ireland, despite coming from a working class background, I can tell you in my experience this doesn’t come close to some of the vile things the super affluent say about people they believe to be below them.

Well aside from Charlie just not wanting to be a cop, I think that’s what Sterling’s speech was kind of about, the whole, “There’s nothing that pulls you in more than being really good at something for unhealthy reasons” like tie that with the scene with her sister and I think the show is making the case that Charlie

Yeah, that was my first thought “You know if you just turned around and took the job now you’d be much better protected than going on the run.”

That is my only one head scratcher for this show. It didn’t give a very legit reason why she didn’t enter witness protection back in ep 5. She had a way to “die” right there and escape all of this.
