Honestly, in 2020, on the internet, the hot take is “Aaron Sorkin is good.”

I remember being really annoyed when the DOOM adaptation eliminated the Hell component and went with some kind of evil space virus.

To illustrate the point about Ishtar’s status as a punchline instead of an actual movie, I didn’t know it was actually a comedy until I stumbled across Rabin’s “My World of Flops” piece on it a few years ago. I just knew it as “famous bomb” and assumed that, with a title like Ishtar, it must be some bombastic, self-ser

I know that Kyle Mooney is kind of a hero of weird alt comedy types, but his sketch tonight...woof. That was rough. I appreciate that comedy is an intensely subjective thing, and I get there are people who love that brand of comedy, so I won’t begrudge them that, but this sort of “See, it’s weird and awkward and

The AV Club reviewer didn’t much like Revival, but I think it’s one of King’s more underrated novels. It’s a short, nasty little book, with a hell of a downer ending.

I watched the first season of Greek when it was airing and then kind of fell away from the show, and I’ve always wondered what I was missing from the rest of its run, because I basically enjoyed it at the time. I recently got around to binge-watching the show on Hulu, and as it turned out I hadn’t missed much. “Soap

“James” is a nice name.

Short answer: yes.

While SHIELD and the other Avengers are all vaguely nonplussed by Thor and Loki’s bullshit.

As far as operatic, gloriously over-the-top villain lines go, “I am Loki of Asgard, and I am burdened with glorious purpose” is way the hell up there. Like, that is some textbook awesome bad guy shit right there.

OK, but you have to wear the full helmet with the huge-ass curved horns.

Did we ever come to a final verdict on just how “sincere” Jones is about his whole...vibe? Because, come on, you know what you’re saying when you say “I will eat your ass.” If you’re earnestly expressing a (batshit crazy) willingness to engage in cannibalism after two months of social distancing, you’re not phrasing

Silvestri’s a damn master. I’ve bought like, 10 different tracks he did for the Marvel movies.

There’s a reason TV Tropes has an article for “Worst News Judgement Ever.”

Oof, that’s rough. You don’t partner up with Rosario Dawson to do those kinds of numbers.

I’m pretty surprised by this, if only because USA promoted the show hard - it felt like their big prestige play of the season. The numbers must have been pretty dire.

Ah, the world’s most effective abstinence-only educational video.

I remember being struck a few years ago watching old episodes on YouTube that there were two different Benazir Bhutto references from episodes, like, four years apart.

Joe’s utterly loathsome, but he’s loathsome in a catastrophically entertaining kind of way. Doc Antle runs a tiger-obsessed sex cult, but he’s a reasonably put together, articulate guy, so it’s harder to turn him into an object of circus freak fascination. There’s nothing entertaining or charming about Jeff Lowe -

I really appreciated the show undercutting its traditional “draw out the Eve-Villanelle meeting and play it up as a huge, sexy moment” play. Eve’s on a bus, then Villanelle is there. Genuinely caught me by surprise.
