This is such a delightful mental image, Magnificent Octopus.

A quirk of its lead designer, Phil Arborphobe.
As much of an MCU fan as I am, I haven’t been particularly interested in the Disney+ shows. But WandaVision looks kind of fascinating.
I think what Dowd is getting at (and he said as much in his fuller review, linked above) is that the movie is ultimately more than just “wronged woman murders date rapists.” That’s not really “offensive,” I think, at least in terms of modern movies. So I’m really interested in seeing the “twists and turns.”
I’m sort of fascinated to see how Promising Young Woman will “deeply offend” critics and moviegoers. The trailer was great and I’m excited to see it, but I definitely thought it had the look of a movie that was going to kill it with woke left-wing Twitter (of which I’m a part, I admit). It’ll be a more interesting…
Holy crap the Chiefs are in the Super Bowl.
Wild guess - she’s playing the Monica Bellucci character from the sequels.
Do folks from the Commonwealth countries usually say “whilst?”
Teenage me loved how incredibly depressing that book was. I don’t know if 35-year-old me would feel the same way, but at the time I appreciated the sheer nut punch darkness of the ending.
It’s still kind of weird that Daniel Radcliffe and Steve Buscemi are on this TBS comedy that debuts in January and basically gets no hype or notice.
“I married your granddaughter and filled her belly with my festering seed!”
Don’t be a pill, Laurence.
Any mention of HGTV immediately makes me think of John Mulaney’s bit on real estate agents.
I think Che, at heart, is kind of a troll. That characterization is a little unfair to him, to be sure, but he does clearly enjoy getting a reaction out of people. You can see that in some of his Trump jokes on Weekend Update – I don’t think he likes Trump in any sense, but he clearly doesn’t want to just tell a bunch…
O’Brien claiming he didn’t have a good play for that fourth down situation was mind-boggling. It’s fourth and one! Your quarterback is a goddamned human Transformer! You’ve got Deandre Hopkins and Will Fuller! Figure it the hell out, man.
I’ve been a Chiefs fan since 1995, and an inescapable sense of doom every time the playoffs came around was the core element of that experience. Rooting for a team with a quarterback who can do...everything is kind of a mind-boggling experience.
I love that moment in Get Shorty when everyone is arguing over the meaning of “i.e.” and “e.g” and a very frustrated Dennis Farina just says, “I.e., e.g., fuck you.” It has a perfect cadence to it.
Also - the character can just be Scottish! Like, it doesn’t drastically change the movie if Mike is a Scottish dude instead of an American. It’s two lines of dialogue.
Bizarrely, I think Union’s in a TV show with Jessica Alba on a channel no one gets where she’s actually playing her Bad Boys character.
I’ve found a lot of great moments of comedy in videogames. Ezio’s mother shouting “Besides vaginas!” at him in Assassin’s Creed 2, for example, or overhearing a drill sergeant berate recruits with an erudite lecture on Issac Newton in Mass Effect. Or some of the bits of corporate satire in the 2016 Doom -…
