It’s amazing how that clip immediately makes the viewer slice onions, isn’t it?

Now playing

You ever talk to a friend or internet acquaintance about some movie/TV show/book/videogame/whatever that they don’t like, and you find yourself nodding along to every criticism they offer because you can’t really disagree with them, and at the end of the conversation all you can do is shrug and say, “Yeah, but I like

The fact that one of the Endgame trailers prominently featured a voiceover from Hayley Atwell in Winter Soldier would seem to telegraph a Peggy Carter appearance. And yes, I will cry my damn eyes out when that happens.

One of the funnier running jokes in the MCU is that everyone in the universe swoons over Thor. Like, you’ve got Robert Downey Jr and Mark Ruffalo and Chris Evans and Tom Hiddleston running around (not to mention the women), but everyone recognizes that Thor is just in a completely different galaxy.

Cate Blanchett in Ragnarok single-handedly changed how I pronounced the word “goddess.”

Lisey’s Story is a fascinating book - probably more of an interesting misfire than a genuinely good novel, but if nothing else it’s a case of King trying something unique even if it didn’t quite cohere.

Watching Thor, it’s hard to believe Chris Hemsworth would go on to anchor Infinity War with his comedic timing and emotional range.

I have Iron Man 2 ranked dead last in the MCU, though I finally caught most of The Incredible Hulk on TV the other day and that’s pretty stiff competition for the trailing spot. IM2 is watchable, at least, and I’m enough of a sentimental sucker that the “Howard Stark reaches across time to connect with his son” stuff

This was my big problem with the “none of the above” ending. The episode never clearly articulated why Rebecca had to be alone to be a songwriter. The dream sequence at the beginning did a good job explaining why a relationship without music wouldn’t be acceptable, but once Rebecca understood she had to pursue music

I genuinely hate that this is my reaction to the finale of a show I grew to love despite only getting into it last year , but...I found that episode really uninspired. It felt drawn out in reaching an ending that was obvious about five minutes in, and the ending itself was trite and simplistic for a show that’s always

My First Avenger vote would be for the final conversation between Peggy and Steve, which I pull up on YouTube when I decide it’s been too long since I’ve cried.

Tony Stark isn’t the kind of role that wins Oscars or garners a ton of critical acclaim, but it’s hard to overstate just how consistently great Robert Downey Jr. has been over the course of a decade. Contrast the fun, quippy Stark of Iron Man with the raw, exposed nerve he is Civil War, for example.

Black Panther has some problems - the CGI is shockingly bad (as pretty much everyone acknowledges), the third act is pretty much a generic Everyone Punches Each Other For A While And Then It Ends affair and I’m always kind of annoyed at how Daniel Kaluuya and Danai Gurira’s marriage feels like a last-minute

Oh, God, that was such a gut punch of a dream sequence. Like, you know it’s not real - it wouldn’t make sense to kill Gage at that point in the novel, then do an “LOL just kidding” flash forward with so much left in the book. But there’s so much detail - Gage becomes a collegiate swimmer!

I haven’t watched the third season yet, but Maggie Lawson’s appearances in the second season convinced me that, as fun as Barrymore is in the role, I want to see a parallel universe version of the show where Lawson is the lead.

Yeah, the whole “OMG Jocelyn is the most beautiful woman in the world” shtick was kind of hard to swallow when her lady in waiting was prettier than her.

Wait, Santa Clarita Diet is back? That really sneaked up on me. No hype at all.

Carrigan is also great on Gotham, where he plays Victor Zzazz as a sort of sociopathic version of NoHo Hank.

Interestingly, Kevin Spacey originally signed on to play the fetus. Christopher Plummer refused to take his place, which is why the fetus’ performance was so poor.

It’s hard for me to defend A Knight’s Tale on its merits, but damned if I don’t stop and watch it every time I stumble across it on cable.
