Yes he basically had to take the Nike money, there is no other way. Who cares if they use sweat shop labor, Kap is a hero!!!!!!!

ugh - go back to the Root or Jezebel. Deadspin used to be somewhat “woke white dude” free now every comment is exactly like yours.

Yeah good for her...I hope eventually all women are forced to cover, it seems like there are so many immodest women in this country!

How is she taking ownership. Women around the world are forced to cover themselves because of arbitrary rules men dreamed up. Now she is fighting to wear the exact same covering that is forced on women... and you are applauding this???? SMH

They are not forced in Iran, or Saudi Arabia? Are you trolling?

Just wanted to chime in and tell you you are really really dumb.

I don’t know, I am lucky enough to be working and could definitely not afford a Mercedes. Not sure of the reliability, but I think they cost a lot to fix. I mean point taken about having to look destitute, but driving a luxury vehicle and getting food assistance really seems like she is stealing aid from the poor. It

I do agree that buying things that last is smart economics, but I didn’t interpret the story as if the lady was driving a Mercedes from the 1990s. If that was the case, why even bring it up, that obviously is not a lavish vehicle. The whole anecdote could be fake for all I know, I just took that story from another

Damon don’t need any of ya’ll damn facts!!! He just want to try to assign blame in a case where he seems to barely know what happened. The commenters won’t care and will tell him how great his post was. Is this your first day on The Root?

Well you’ve put me in the awkward position of, at least seeming to, defend the Republican party but....The Republicans want the government to give zero dollars to poor people, they want the government completely out of the equation, and they think pure Capitalism will solve issues with poverty. I personally disagree

I dont get your argument - with less government control the government would not give out money for people to live. The Republicans were prefer a feeble government that did not do that, and for pure capitalism to take care of people. I don’t think this will work and think a social safety net is necessary, but I’m not

So I see in your specific case, nice bags plus food stamps makes sense. You explained the situation and I can see how it illustrates not to judge without knowing the situation. But I have also had friends on government assistance, with girlfriends begging for child support payments, who would go out and buy themselves

But isnt she using money that could be used to buy food to make an expensive Mercedes loan or lease payment? I don’t get it. Why doesn’t she just trade in the Mercedes, drive a Camry, and pay for her own food?

So they sit you down and have you apply in store, but the in store application uses the same website that you can access from anywhere???? Welp, I guess that proves that cell phones are absolutely a “basic point of entry to function in modern society”. Brilliantly argued BTW.

Wait I don’t get it - wh does your boyfriend use food stamps and have nice things? How can he afford the nice things?

I know people who were trying to donate like pinto beans to a food drive at work. I brought steak and shrimp and left in the box and people were looking at me weird!! Homeless people deserve quality food, probably more so than the people who can afford to buy it. So I’m with you, please buy name-brand clothing ONLY

Ha “bro” - pointing out slight grammar mistakes on an internet forum definitely makes you look smart. I clearly didn’t know who I was messing with. First, I used the word “thesis”, and now my quotation is in the wrong place. Really backs up your original argument ( didn’t use the word thesis) that learning should be

You know you’re right- I was trying too hard by using the word “thesis”. I was trying to use it to mean the central premise of my argument, but I just made it obvious that I was dumb by using it. Sorry for the run-on sentences, I should edit better when I write comments on a silly message board. It’s just that my

OK I guess that’s a tangent to you when my central thesis was learning can, and often does, involve memorization and repetitive tasks, which may be considered boring, but are necessary to acquire skills. Maybe you are having trouble following a logical argument because you are bored - go back to watching Disney

If you actually read the comment, I said sometimes acquiring skills requires hard work, practice, and repetition. This is not always fun, can sometimes be boring, but can result in the acquisition of new skills that can be rewarding. Why is this so hard for you? Why can’t you just admit your wrong, it’s just a silly
