I can agree that the tech trees and art style (icons and units) in general for SMAC was pretty meh. But the AI was waaaaay better than in any Civ game and leaders had much more ‘personality’ thanks to the non-generic blurb unlike Civ.

The AMD R9 290X gfx card released about 2 years ago raised quite a few eyebrows as AMD claimed it was fine to have it operate at 95°C or so because it was built for it.
