I sincerely hope this is a case of a savvy businessman using a huckster media trick to drum up coverage for his independent project. Because, anyone who actually thinks there’s a legitimate case here has a lot to learn about parallel thinking.

I can only imagine what it’s like for somebody to be referred to the “black” xyz instead of just xyz for no reason. Linking one’s physical appearance to their profession when it’s not relevant.   So weird.

Unregardless, it was a weird fucking scene. Someone in the theater did a perfectly timed “What?” right before Strange struck the final blow/note.

I know there’s a GIANT history of rich/big-name white creators stealing from smaller black creators, but this doesn’t seem like a case where that has to be in the goddamn title. It feels like rage bait.

So, what are the visual comparisons? It’s the first question any reader would ask. Why even write this article if you can’t show or directly link to it? Is it a copyright issue that Kotaku can’t get around?

Based on the video above, I have trouble saying it was “copied”. Honestly the scene from the film did seem familiar to me, but more from some previous Disney animation. I thought maybe Fantasia or something but that doesn’t appear to be it. 

Doesn’t look similar at all to what’s in the trailer.

This is more “inspired by”, if anything, but I certainly had never heard of the game until 5 minutes ago so I don’t know how much it “blew up online”.

Although I will say the music fight scene in the movie was a really weird thing to have happen

I understand that the writers at kinja get punished if they don’t meet their title spoiler quota, but I still hate it.

So basically it took them six years of grinding workers to the bone to come out with… the pirate mechanics of AC4 but made worse with a bunch of live-service elements no one asked for?

Someone try and plant the idea for a lesbian roller-disco Sonic the Hedgehog musical at Sega, we can make this happen.

Having a fresh take on the TNG style wouldn’t be bad, even welcome, I just don’t want it to be the only thing.

Man, I really wanted to like this new generation of trek, but goddamn I canʻt. Itʻs so cringe. Trek always used to have a intellect, warmth and a certain goofiness that just isnʻt there anymore. I donʻt know the story behind the writing and production, but somehow, behind all the flashy CGI, it just seems diminished.

Ah yes, the opposite of “waste not”. Why keep a perfectly good thing and just freshen it up when you can chuck it in a fucking landfill for no reason?

Sonic Mania was all sonic fan service and it was super well received and the message they got from that is, we can make menu animation DLC. Yup.
