Upstate NY little kid too. Made me crazy when we had to put coats over the costumes! You had to do your best with makeup, jewelry, crowns, shoes, etc—but it was never right. And you felt like a flasher when some nice grandma would ask what you were and you whipped open your coat. Just not fun.
