Story of my life. One of those Zoya sales is what got me hooked maybe a year and a half ago. I just got my sale order in this week and oh my god Storm is the best ever.

I'm not snarking about her AT ALL for not having a degree. I know exactly why she hasn't completed her degree yet and there's no judgment here whatsoever. I was simply observing that it seems to me that high school academics were the last time she had validation of her intelligence and that's why she brings it up a…
I could not agree more. I have a friend who talks about how awesome she was at math/physics/etc. in high school ALL THE TIME and I always feel like she's compensating for the fact that we're both in our late 20's and she doesn't have a college degree yet. It's weird and kind of sad and also a super dull topic of…
It's not the first one that they've done that to in the last few weeks, either. It's driving me kind of nuts.
It's all good, I totally agree on that count. It's weird for me sometimes because I totally fall into the gender stereotype of the woman nerd, I suck at science and math, I'm a professional artist, and cosplay is by far where my nerdery shows the most (and I also love me some Trek!). But I think that the visibility of…
Haha, we should be friends, I need to hang out with as many people as I can that are good at sewing. :D I love making props and armor but I have absolutely noooo patience with a sewing machine. It's a widespread joke amongst friends about how quickly that'll rage me out! Plastics, man, that's my thing.
Having been featured in like 2 articles on io9 I can't speak too harshly about them particularly ;D but you're so totally right. It makes me sad that the bulk of the most 'famous' female cosplayers (who are still all awesomely skilled craftspeople, don't get me wrong) are less technically proficient than the men and…
I'll agree with that. I tend not to watch TV that pitches itself as inherently nerdy in general because I feel like it's all like that anyhow. It also seems peculiar to me that scientists would even be part of the pitch—when I think of nerdiness, I generally think of more social things like playing D&D twice a week or…
Nothing wrong with being a cosplayer, dude.
I'm a bit uncomfortable with all the talk surrounding bone shaving as an OMG EXTREME procedure when I have to wonder how many people are unaware that this happens in the US all the time too—for trans women who want to have more traditionally "feminine" facial features. I personally would not want to have any such…
I was pretty disappointed that that was the reason the series presented for why the surgery was bad. It seemed like an interesting concept but I think literally altering people's behaviors at the same time removes any real, nuanced conversation about why it's not necessarily the right thing to alter your appearance to…
It was the one where Marceline and the Ice King jam together. Weep!!
It was EXACTLY THAT. Iroh part and all.
Oh man. I have a really fierce cold right now and I've been VERY overly emotional compared to my normal state (example: I cried today over episodes of both Adventure Time and Avatar: The Last Airbender DON'T JUDGE ME) and this is pricklin' me up all over again.
We've only got like 1 real gay bar but it's well known for being one of the nicest places to go and maybe the only place to really dance downtown. Join us!
I once took a (straight male) friend to a gay bar by mistake when going out with him to try and meet new women. I was back in my hometown, where I was never old enough to go to bars when I actually lived there, and he and I picked the first bar that we saw that our parents hadn't told us about. Oops!
Yep, I lost ~15lbs with MyFitnessPal with work friends and my husband. Great site!
I can see most of those things as being huge irritants and very rude, but the meat next to the veggies thing seems a little sensitive to me, honestly. Is it really an issue if your food comes within a few inches of some meat? Shouldn't everything probably be wrapped up or in a non-meat-filled crisper anyway?
Oh god I just heard they're doing licensed LotR stuff again. MY WALLET IS FALLING OPEN NOOOOOOoooo
