I think I know what happened, at least on the Mustang....Freddy Fatfinger at the dealer lowered the reserve to below the highest current bid. If I recall, eBay automatically resets the reserve/BIN to $1 over the highest bid in such cases.

Taking a corner in my '75 Eldorado at the exact moment the power steering belt gave out. Suddenly I was in a 5000lbs paperweight headed straight into the side of a bus. I had to slam on the brakes, let all the traffic pass by and drive to the opposite side of the street to get it off the road....

Try doing this in a convertible that already has a huge blind spot. Not so much....if I don't see at least the edge of my rear fender I could lose a bus in there. I'm looking over my shoulder whether I like it or not....
