I agree! Savage AF!

It is the most over rated, over used position!

I never got the fascination with Athelstan either. And I think it wasn't a coincidence that the Earl who was chosen as sacrifice looked very much like him

Torvi was a slave. She wasn't Helga's sister

Even though it would have been totally ridiculous, I got my hopes up that when they scanned the grass around that cage that we would see Ragnar dragging himself Ivar-like across the ground.

I can't remember, but did Judith have a son before Alfred that is really Aethelwulf's?

Methinks the cokehead doth protest too much. (Good luck finding out my real identity, James Woods)

Why is it lazy to not want to be taken out of the moment to have to read dialogue and miss the gorgeous cinematography that they are spending a butt load of money impressing us with? If I'm reading dialogue I am not watching the nuances of their expressions which may tell me something that is getting lost in print

I was thinking more along the lines of the whole town coming out to watch someone be drawn and quartered, but yeah, I get your point.

As brutal as it is to watch, these things happened so why sanitize it? It's actually given me much thought away from the show about far removed we are from that now, yet in this present political climate how little it would probably take to get us "civilized folk" right back there.

What makes it "metal af" is that it wasn't designed to pander to anyone.

I didn't catch what he said at all but I didn't want to prolong his torture a second more by going back to replay! I can't say I have ever done that before. His torture, especially the cross cut into his forehead was devastating to watch.

He so deserves it. Mea Culpa Maximus my ass, mofo.

I originally started watching because I knew JRM was joining the cast and I'm a huge fan, but Travis Fimmel captivated me from his first scene, and it's going to be tough to top that. It's funny but one of the things that I love about Rhys-Meyers is that he is able to convey so much through just a slight twitch of his

I cracked up over that scene with Kev! I love him!

"Mostly reruns on tv tonight, wanna go see the queen go out in flames?"
"Sure, why not? Lemme pack up the cooler."

Love the thought of flashbacks of those 10 years. Maybe Fimmel wryly conversing with a squirrel about the drawbacks of leadership or tussling with a rabid raccoon?
But I don't see the writers really believing that there is either a real Valhalla or Heaven to send Ragnar to. And let's face it, would he really have been

I think it has much more to do with cronyism and money than it does rewarding the truly deserving. I have watched many a Best Picture that was boring as shit, and actors that were awarded more on the basis that they made themselves look ugly for a role than for their actual talent.

I loved that you were getting the feeling that Eckbert was feeling all Pontius Pilate to Ragnar's Jesus when Eckbert was praying in view of the stations of the cross.

I feel the same. To me, it made Lagertha much more badass that she just chalked it up to, "bitch could give him more sons, let her be the uterus and I'll go and rule my own territory." But this is a show where we are constantly seeing intelligent and evolved charismatic characters behaving with a shocking amount of
