Went through the newspaper archives at the time. What I found out is that FDR came down with a “mild” case of the Spanish Flu in 1918 or 1919. Thereafter the flu vaccine came out in 1920 and was being administered to many people.  My guess is that he got the vaccine . He became afflicted in 1921.
