I think the trick here is to make it clear that “ideology” is being challenged, rather than culture, race, identity, etc. It should be made extra clear that individual Muslims are not being demonized.

She did the equivalent of yelling ‘fire’ in a crowded theater.

I’m in your camp, but I can explain the other side I think.

I live my life according to the same rules as you do.

Your definition of justice differs from that of most people. Most people will probably view you as a bad person.

But I do think that whatever mistakes Brown made that day, were he a white man, he’d have a better chance of surviving them.

Professional athletes seem to be more well rounded people.

I don’t work in the field, but I do love reading about it. I thought this guy made his point in a pretty clumsy way. Perhaps it is his lack of “emotional intelligence.”

I think bias against black people exists. I think there have been plenty of examples of this involving racists cops. I think racists people are probably more likely to be cops. I think the political side of our justice system (prosecutors, judges, sheriffs etc) is more likely to show racial bias in order to pander to

I'm not entirely sure that cops really are more likely to use deadly force against black people. Scott Alexander had a good piece on it. This doesn't mean some cops Aren't racist, obviously.

Sure, but the scenario you are creating is unlikely, and you are ignoring the fight at the SUV.

The “charging” part is unclear, sure.

Yeah, that’s what I meant. Thanks.

We are at jezebel. I think everyone here knows what the definition of consent is. I think everyone here knows what the definition of rape is with regard to consent. I think everyone can agree that according to this system of ethics, this woman was raped.

There is nothing “loving” about a man who continues to have sex with a severely incapacitated woman even after he is told by professional caregivers who are responsible to advocate on behalf of their impaired patient that they do not believe she is capable of consent

I’ve been trying to make this point elsewhere.

I didn’t say it was ethical. I said “I’m not so sure”

Because I actually had a married set of grandparents one of whom suffered from sever dementia before she died. I saw my grandma lose her mind, but I also saw a women who still wanted companionship, wanted to be touched, wanted a meaningful relationship, and yeah, wanted sex.

I’m not sure it’s as terrifying as you think it is.

I wasn’t really being facetious. I’m a little young to worry about this at the moment, but I would totally add a clause to my will that allows my wife to keep sleeping with me.
